I have a sick runner. My poor girl seems to be a little dehydrated. She is the only duck among chickens and loves her baby pool. I think it got too warm and some algae has formed in the last couple of days. She is in the bath tub now. Being hand fed every little bit. Prayers are welcomed

I nee to report abuse from the third school hatch
Started with 6 eggs all put in the bator at the same time
5 have hatched between day 28 and 29
Today is day 30 and egg 6 is still moving but no signs of hatching yet
The air cell on it didn’t dip till day 28 while the rest had on day 25
I was looking for an easy hatch and got one that wants to make me worry like crazy
If it does hatch it’s at least 2 days away so that would be day 32
I don’t own any Muscovy ducks and we don’t have any wild ones around only mallards ( that one mallard drake did stop in and mate one of my girls one night but that was only a few weeks ago
This teacher had her own bator and not one I have used before so not sure if that’s the issue
It’s the brinsea mini
Pretty hard on that little bator to get a cold spot
We moved them into my bator at lockdown as I don’t know how that bator has any room for them to hatch
Any ideas guys ?

I don't know why it's late, if there isn't a cool spot- but both of my girls were late, internal pips on days 28-29, but both hatched past day 30. So I'd say there's hope, just maybe running late

Your eggs came from a fridge getting cold before hand
Makes me wonder maybe this egg got cold
I gather for a few days then pick the biggest eggs to send to the school
Maybe it was left out in the cold longer then the others I picked

I also have a duck on day 7ish could be day 6-8 sitting and very consistent
Only comes off quickly in the morning and afternoon
She hissed and growls if I even clean near her nest
So far all her eggs are doing great
I do have to remove 4 extras each Morning as others lay in there but I do it quickly while she is off the nest
How is dougie doing with sitting ? Has sprightly decided to join in yet

Unfortunately not yet. Dougie is still sitting, she's very dedicated. But Sprightly shows no interest- I'm currently trying "force molting", I'm trying to induce a molt by changing her feed and feed routine. Hopefully if successful, she'll stop laying

Checked the school this morning
Baby with the foot issue is perfect this morning. Just needed time to stretch out after the bad hatch
Baby 6 is still moving in the egg but no signs of hatching yet
I also made an outdoor area for my 2 week olds when it’s warm out
Predators can’t get in
