How is everyone? Any abuse to report?
I had both my girls escape their pen this morning, when my back was turned!
They just couldn't wait for me to fetch their food, had to follow me to get it.
My stella didn’t abuse me but gave me the biggest scare last night
She was not herself at all. No talking
Didn’t eat supper , didn’t follow her crew of anconas , didn’t even eat her favourite treat
Just stood still acting very depressed and off. I picked her up and she laid her head in my neck
I thought she had eaten something she shouldn’t
She wouldn’t even walk to the coop last night I had ti carry her
I cried many tears and prayed lots she would be ok
Left her a bucket of water ( geese don’t make water messes like ducks ! She drank some but not a stitch of wet bedding !!
This morning she was slower to get going
Just stayed back and took her time
Usually races her crew to fresh water
I did see her nibble some grass and did eventually come eat crumble
She is 6 months old and I did find a larger then normal size egg
Read a few posts on here last night and saw so many similarities of first time layers when they are on the younger side acting off
I think my girl laid an egg yesterdays and it had her confused
She is very young still mentally so maybe that’s why
I didn’t expect eggs till spring from her
Most my duck eggs range 70-78 grams
This was 87 grams I know smaller then regular goose eggs but for first egg it would be right around that size
This afternoon she is back to normal
Ate her favourite treat. Talking and even hanging with her anconas again
They have also just started to lay eggs
Maybe it pushed her into an early cycle as that’s her crew
She thinks she is a duck
She isn’t your normal goose
She is very quiet unless I talk to her , have treats or somebody comes in the yard she lets me know
