My pullet had surgery last Friday for an oviductal impaction. She seemed to be doing great. However, today, she is suddenly very lethargic. I don't know what is wrong. The vet who did surgery is two and a half hours away. Advice?

Decreased appetite as well. Stool looks normal. Her crop is nearly empty. 26 weeks old. She cannot seem to keep her eyes open, she's so fatigued/lethargic.

I gave her probiotic water with a bit of sugar added in. Put her back on the antibiotic/antiinflammatory prescribed by vet.

Still, advice appreciated.

I use yogurt or keifer and raw egg plus Nutri-drench in the tubing slurry. It works fine.

It's a very, very good sign that she's showing this degree of improvement. I am optimistic now that she's turned the corner and will continue to heal. It appears this hen isn't ready to leave this world.
I'm scared to death to overfill her and she'll throw up!

Thank you again for all your help. Truly.

Just gave her 20 ml of yogurt and egg.
Update...took her outside and carried her for a few minutes. She was so happy about that.

Hello! I just wanted to say that you are one of the most amazing animals owners I have ever seen, and given this little sweet hen so much. Thank you for taking such good care of her, I don’t think anyone could do better than you. We need more people like you in this world.

I am hoping so badly that her crop will be flat by morning. If it is not, is there anything the vet can do? Any further on my part?
The vet just gave meds for the crop problem when? 2-3 days ago or something? Give the medications time to work. Crop problems rarely resolve overnight. You're just now into the middle of treatment.
Keep her hydrated and continue caring for her like you have been, don't change things up too much.

Thanks.

Hoping for more improvement, including her stool

I let her visit her flock but the specialist told me not to let her experience temperature fluctuations. It's been around 50 in the morning and mid 70s in the afternoon so it's a pretty limited visit unfortunately. She really loves it. I hope she knows that's what we're working for..to get back to her flock for a long, happy, healthy life. I hope we can.

Thank you all.
Yes, I need hugs. Truly.
I took her to the vet this morning as a drop off and waiting to hear what they say.
The specialist who do surgery didn't give much info about recovery, even when asked.
I did start her back on the baby bird food and ordered Kaytee Exact handfeeding food, which came today. I feel she's lost weight since the last visit and asked them to please tell me.
I am hoping they won't keep her all day as it's going to be warm out this afternoon and she can actually be outside, her happy place. I'll update when I hear from them.
