I am on pins and needles.....Can't wait to hear what your father gets!

I'll report what my father gets after the chicks arrive. But it might take a while to get pictures since my father doesn't have a computer with Internet access. I keep telling him that the Internet is easy to use, but he doesn't believe me.

He actually has used the computer at the local library, but he said he kept having to ask the librarian to help him.

Please take some pictures of the suprise bunch so we can all enjoy them. I would love to get this package someday too. I have ordered from Cackle before and not been dissapointed. Hope all goes well.

I see on the tracking that it states the package is 6 pounds.

Does that tell anyone approximately how many chicks are in this shipment? I know there could be other birds in there also.

6 pounds times 16 ounces equals 96. Let's say a chick weighs 2 ounces.

That would be 48. But there is the weight of the box.

I am going to say 34 chicks, two ducks, and two geese. We will see how close I come.

wish I had room that looks like a fun box to get

Someone said it was probably too early in the year for turkeys, and that is why I guessed no turkeys.

Any other guesses as to what's in the 6-pound box?

I talked to my father on the telephone, and his surprise arrived this morning.

He said he thinks he counted 49 chicks and 3 ducks. (I guessed 34 chicks, 2 ducks, and 2 geese.) They are all alive and they are eating and drinking. My father said they were thirsty.

He said it looks like 6 are Silkies, which he is happy about, because they make good mama hens.

He said there are yellow ones, black ones, and all kinds. Of course he doesn't know how many are pullets and how many are cockerels. I am sure in about a month it will become apparent.

The price with shipping was $60.95. Including ducks, there are 52. That is $1.172 each. My father said he went by the co-op store and they were selling chicks for $2.49 each, so my father did get a very good bargain.

Maybe if someone orders this surprise later in the year they would get a few geese and turkeys. But my father is very happy with what he received.
