Surviving Minnesota!

I'm back again. Yep I'm on here at 3:45 just trying to catch up with posts. I suppose it's about bedtime lol.

I will also Carhartt is probably the best brand you can get for a farm jacket. I have Carhartt Gloves, Hats, Coats and overalls. They are very toasty out in the deer stand lol.

EJB I would rather hug my chickens than my dog lol. I love our dog but loves the chickens even more. But I'd rather hug a cow than dogs or chickens

I am thinking my poor birds are going to have a chilly trip to Hutch tomorrow...

Minnie, After your comment about the PC being darker than Roger Jr, I am thinking I picked the wrong 2 PC cockerels. I picked the ones with the best bay color in the hackles and front and good bay triangles on the wings. The darker ones took a trip in the gunny sack to St Paul. I doubt they are in any condition to be shown now.

See I can over worry everything.

I might try to get rid of the extra FuFu cockerels, but I think it could just be giving them a ride to Hutch and back. If anyone wants some Cuckoo Maran, Silver Laced Polish, Spritzes, Yokohamas or CLB white sports feel free to PM me. I know some of you (EJB & Jerry) hate to mention in the open your desire to have a real Fufu to hug, And you all know me I would never tell anyone you have a therapy Fufu to hug. Also know Fufu roosters are excellent bedpost chickens.

I Was thinking after a couple nice days and above freezing temps I might try for a mushroom walk today. I guess this little artic blast put an end to that.

Jerry, if you give me the address that those logs are located at I can arrange for their removal for safe keeping over the winter??

Holm, I would be careful about that hugging the cows talk. I once knew of a farmer who ended up divorced after his wife found him hugging a cow intimately!

Many locations above the Mn. Banana Belt in the 20's this morning. Winter is fast approaching as there were snow flakes in the air yesterday. Spotted a Minnesota Forest Chicken eating apples in one of my ornamental crabs yesterday. Although some would harvest it for dinner, I did not. I may attempt to capture it for use in a cross breeding experiment?

Ralphie, good luck at the show. I wish I could come to visit you, but I believe I may be in Omaha at an auction of imported Irish racing pigeons.

Thanks..

What do imported racing pigeons go for? How did you do on the race from Mitchel, SD.

Well, this is Thursday morning - Dah! I have concluded that Hutchinson is out of the question for me to travel to this weekend. I will be working on and hopefully finishing up the mite issue in my chicken coop. I have bee diligent and consistent in my endeavor to prepare my basement and now the coop for winter and am almost at the end of the race. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. I need to keep on keeping on.

Coop question: So I have this small coop that the birds go into for the nesting boxes. I plan to rip it apart, vac it, spray it with a solution of Sevin and then paint it after it dries. Okay that is what I plan to do. Any other comments about that?

The covered run has had plastic attached to it. It has a bunch of studs with hardware wire attached to the studs. It is my intention to vac those studs (except for the base because that would involve tons of dust being sucked into the shop vac and what would that achieve?) And then spray the upright and roof with that Sevin Spray. The base I am thinking I will dust with the powder and then use a scrub brush and scrub the dust into the crevices. After doing that I will (have already raked out the covered coop) apply the dust to the dirt in the coop, making sure it gets into the crevices and then rake the floor again.

Apply Neem oil to all the roosts.

Is this good enough?
