Surviving Minnesota!

For those of you that are showing I would recommend getting a bottle of show sheen for horses. That stuff really makes feathers pop and shine

Just don't use it near any upholstery. It's got silicone in it and it'll do a number on cloth. Also it might make those chickens harder to catch, slippery buggers. (never put show sheen where the saddle goes on a horse - you'll end up on the ground)

Not a problem, at my age.....I no longer bounce so I have no plans to ever ride a horse again.

We will be dropping birds off on Friday....back early on Saturday (kids are both in Showmanship) and then we will be staying for the banquet. My husband may leave for a while to help with harvest. Hutch is just a little over an hour drive for us so he can come and go easily.

I have been way more productive than you Jerry,,,

I have read, written, drank coffee, napped, watched news..

I have done this cycle a couple times while feeling guilty I have not been to Menard's yet.

While you are at Menards can you pick up a couple things on my list as well. You may want to bring the enclosed trailer...it looks like rain today.

Rain?? no! NO!!

It looks clear here.
Overcast all morning.... looks like rain or $**W is a coming.

Daughter's 13th birthday is friday and she looks at the forcast and commence drama! One would think the world is ending because the forecast has snow on her birthday, the day she is to bring her beloved Pet Chicken to a show.

News flash the chicken will have a roof over it's head and her beloved chicken is a buff Orp that has a good 4-5 inches of down under its feathers.

And this too shall pass says every parent!

2 layers! 2 eggs today. By the looks of the snuggle bunnies on the top roost Junior has Pearl the lavender and Hattie one of the blues laying for him and rubbing up next to him on the roost. When I think of him and the other cockerel. He is the better bird. Overall form and temperament. He had that weird control thing with Sylvia my slw but that seems to have passed. Her scalping healed but she is blind in her right eye. She is learning and adapting though and has a good friend in the blrw, Lucy. Flock dynamics shifted for the better after culling some of those old hens (the buckeye and an EE) weird how that shifts things for some. Their behaviors are just fascinating to me.
