He will not be able to show them once I knee cap him!


One of the problems we will both have is I sold too many of these chicks to others that plan to show them. That problem is being rectified next year. I will not be selling chicks to just anyone.

I plan to sell started birds instead or eating them so I have the best to pick from myself. The exception will be 4H kids and a few friends that just want good birds for their yards.

I have 2 indoor breeding pens set up and occupied now. Hobbles is in heaven, he spent the entire afternoon fighting with Ed through the wire. Ed seemed to enjoy it too. I feel sorry for Ed, he will never leave here as he is too cool,but he will not be getting a chance to actually breed this year.

Unless someone wants PC chicks I could breed him to some lesser quality hens for sale!!! Genius Idea there!

Batten down the hatches, winter is approaching !! Snow this week and temps which are more the norm unfortunately.
My wife may finish up her last job of 2017 just in time. I remember helping her on a final job one year in November when cutting pavers with the wet saw was anything but fun. My arthritis in my hands and wrists is possibly in part due to that project ?
I will need to put the plants in nursery pots to bed but really wish things would have been more frozen up first. Low here this morning was 52, but it looks as if that will not be a high we see after today for a good long while.
Glad all the birds are nearly completed with the molt.
Ralphie is there a building attached to the death pen that may be where the predator is gaining access ?

Good morning peeples
I loved the weather this past week and still not ready for the cold yuck. Working on the fence kept me from some chicken chores. And there is still work left on the fence.

There is a building. It is just a turkey guinea shelter, cheaply made. However, it has hardware cloth on the bottom running out 2 feet on the ground also. We have seen nothing digging in there either. I have roost starting 6 ft up in there so the birds can get way off the ground. The birds that die have to be too stupid to roost high also,,,,

With all I need to get done, I do not expect to work on any buildings any more this year. The winter is finally here it appears.

Good Morning Chickeners . . . . very interesting You do remember when we began the 'whose first' right? It wasn't that long ago and it was just a fun teasing back and forth type thing. I guess the way to win now is to simply not play. How about if we change it to 'whose last' but that would mean no messages with this competitive bunch.
