Surviving Minnesota!

Anyone need a few kids? My siblings refuse to use fresh eggs and have been resorting to store bought eggs so I have decided it is for the best that they go to a new home.
Nope, sorry, but if you'd like replacements I have some home-egg-eating ones you can have. Pickup only.

Some better Toad 2.0 pictures. I was devasted last night when I moved eggs to Hatcher. Only 2 of the 14 Toad eggs were viable. The Toads are in the non-insulated barn so I assume the cold snap we had 3 or 4 weeks ago played a factor in the embryos.

Good morning to everybody, except hmarg who only gets a 'morning' because she undoubtedly has superior weather to everyone. :plbb

Hehe, it is 29 right now! By the looks of it though, jerryse has me beat with 31! We are going to get a couple inches of snow later today though, so I'm not sure I'm winning much in the weather department today!

It was -5 (on the Fahrenheit Scale) this morning and we are expecting 3-6 inches of that white crap tonight.

This morning my shipment of Pearl White Leghorns came in via Postal Mail, all except 1 seemed to be happy and healthy. This is first time I have ordered chicks through a mail order....so I added the grow gel to the order. The chicks didn't seem to interested in it at first....but we will see.

58 of my own chicks made it to lockdown last night....mostly Rhode Island Reds....I have a suspicion you may see a for sale post in the near future....or a crazy chicken lady butchering a lot of older hens and roos to make room for new stock. The RIR's parent stock are directly from Duane Urch and boy can they lay!

Where did the Leghorns come from? Let me know if you want to get rid of some RIRs ;)
