Surviving Minnesota!

Made it home from Ohio what a great trip! The Ohio national show is a show that any chicken enthusiast should attend. Over 6000 birds at the show. And I was even able to keep @holm25 under enough control that he only brought 3 birds home compared to our 8 birds. I’ll have to post pictures later
:lau:gig That place wasn’t good for ones chicken addiction

Mnchickmom, BC and Holm thank you for the kind words. She was a special hen. I have one old girl left, Cocoa the Marans, not as friendly but that's good. I don't like to get attached to them because it's sad when they go. I wish Honey hadn't started laying again, that's most likely why she died- laying issue so by the time I noticed she wasn't ok it was too late. I don't think she suffered.

So sorry erli, losing those old ones are always the worst. At least you know that she had a good life.

@holm25 I was just going to ask how many you brought home, lol.

I just sent in my Knoxville entry form, 2 Black Hens, 1 White cockerel, 1 black cockerel, and 1 white pullet. I am selling 6-8 birds down there and limiting myself to bringing 4 home. I have really high hopes for the Black cockerel, he is in really good condition right now. As for the other black cockerel and about 8 hens and pullets staying home, I will be plucking them before I leave to hopefully set eggs when I come home.

Congrats Layers!

Ralphie, pull those signs quickly, this weather will freeze them in!

I finished pulling signs yesterday... Needless to say I am not happy with the voting habits of people in this area.....

I may run again, I had hoped for a better showing, but with the money spend to defame me and switch votes, what is to be expected.

That said, it is time for the turkeys to have a drastic reduction in numbers........ The freezer will be filled shortly...

One of them has learned they can eat out of the wild bird feeders if they sit on the feeder tray..It has taught the others they can eat like this....That one needs to go to freezer camp. I need stupid turkeys, not smart ones.

We are getting nearly no eggs. My hens are too old. I have no pullets going into winter. What a difference that makes. Freeloading hens everywhere I look. Anyone need a good freeloader to round off their flock?

Mushrooms are everywhere right now. It appears the entire yard is covered with that white fungi. I have yet to learn how to cook them or even dehydrate them. They seem to disappear when I heat them at all.
