Surviving Minnesota!

Wouldn’t hurt the population any if people would hit a few more....
I have two dead within 200 ft of my driveway..

And a ton more eying my apples.

Come to think upon this.. I drove all the way up to BCs to kill one of her deer,, you would think she could drive down here and hit some of mine.

Snow is melting now that it has warmed up and the sun has finally come out. The ground is saturated. My free ranging chickens either need webbed feet or snowshoes depending on where they choose to walk.
This snowfall has set a record for the month of May, and this was accomplished in one day. We may not be out of the woods yet as one old Finlander was heard to say.

With the strange up and down weather my hatches have been abysmal. The last batch we're all shrink wrapped. I managed to assist several and had to bathe one it was so badly sticky and stuck. I seem to have a hen going broody though. If she's serious I'm happy to let her do the work.

Hopefully we get the garden turned over this weekend. It's been dry this week, so barring any rain, progress.

We had a shock to our community last week and I'll be going to a memorial service today, along with my kids and most of the school. A boy I knew well and watched grow up committed suicide. His younger brother is Dolly's best friend. It's going to be a hard day. I'm already emotional.
Oh my heart goes out to you all. :hugs:hugs
I've been there.
Lost a friend to suicide myself in high school.
And then.. 18 or so years later another kid friends with my daughter took his life. What are the chances. :barnie
Poor kid took it so hard. . she still isn't over it and she's getting ready to turn 20.
