Big puffed winter hens on the roost. Any body else find them glorious in their hugeness?

BC, never call winter beautiful until the 4th of July. It has a way of turning on us.

Jerry, you might be right about us getting old and we should not do the things we did when young. I have been suffering from what I thought was arthritis. It turned into gout in my left hand and wrist.... both are known to be young persons ailment....

I went out to do chores and a couple Toms were fighting right under me. I grabbed one in each hand and went to lift them up. A move that normally stops the fights. I could not lift or hold the one in my left hand and my wrist let me know I still have gout. The pain was immediate. I dropped both Toms.

I am thinking if I keep turkeys I might start a convent like memphis has... the Toms are destroying my peace.

I then decided I should snowshoe a way to relax.. I went about a mile into and around the swamp. I did not break through.

I really was looking for rabbit track or sign for snaring. They was no rabbit sign. A few deer tracks, way too many coon and possum tracks. A few red squirrel tracks and coyote tracks up the wazoo. I even found one large track that could be a wolf.

But I know that’s not possible because the DNR says we don’t have any here..

Also, snowshoeing hurts the gout infested wrist.. 36 hours drug free might come an end today...

On the brighter side I got 5 eggs today. I started lights a couple weeks ago.... which could be why the Toms are bellybuttons.

The snow is crusty hard snowshoeing was easy until one falls. Tracking was hard but we had a Dusty last night to help..

My elderly toad woman looks super in her winter coat. I should have gotten a photo as she is normally naked when you see her pictures. BC is right winter birds are gorgeous.

I was thinking zen would be good.. the gals just live and let live.. the boys are too hyper lately.

I now realize how special JJ really was.. and still miss him and Ethel.
I see @memphis left out the part about when Annie and Daisy would drive her to drink when they were having their annual squabbles.
