Surviving Minnesota!

For a meat duck cross a Muscovy drake over large mallard types like Peking or Rouen . Large and meaty . Easier to pick than Muscovy which seem to always have pin feathers growing in .

Did a egg run and checked my redneck mouse trap . I had 4 today and yesterday also . Chooks got them as a treat . I use a 5 gallon bucket with a scrap of wood for a ramp to the rim of the bucket . Put a little feed in the bottom .

Klop, this is Big Betty. She's 6 and still laying a few eggs a week. I love my Sussex!

Memphis your Sussex is very pretty!

Klop, my DS picked out the golden wyandotte from mcmurray as his breed. They are pretty! Golly, I must be weird thinking birds look beautiful. I love big and fluffy girls, hens with beards and muffs, and everything in between!

Do you far north gardeners have to deal with squash boers ? They are a real pain here .

Jerry looks like you found your MN answer and even closer to the cabin... Still no squash borers. Actually squash is probably the best garden crop to grow here. Lol. Deer as Rhett's said are nemesis.

I love big fluff on a chicken as well. Sounds like holm agrees with that too. Lol

Uh... Now I'm taking a fancy to those English girls....

Mine have only laid one egg so far this year. BUT they have only been under the light about a week.

Hopefully in a month I can show you baby ones. (They are not fancy though, I got them from Aussiegal and she got them from a hatchery). But they sure are sweeties. I think she spoiled them.

Lol I love my fluffy Cochins more than any other breed I have!! They are the sweetest little fluff butts I have other than a NHR named Rhoda who sits on the ladder going up to the nest boxes and screams at me as I pick eggs.
