Surviving Minnesota!

Contact paper? I agree I doubt that would hold up long term.

I wouldn't drop money on fancy anything for a poop board. I build mine on an angle with a chunk of rain gutter at the bottom. Then I can scrape the poo and it rolls down to the trough and I can haul it out.
Cheap plywood and glossy paint would create the best conditions for a low price. Add sand or pdz if you want for addition non stick property.
what a GREAT idea ,,

Coffee, I use newspapers on my poop trays too. It's the easiest for me. I just pull them out, dump them in a wheelbarrow & off to the compost pile.

yep i had poop board with PDZ But it felt to much like cleaning the kitty litter box and since i only HAD (lol) 6 girls i started laying newspaper down, LOVE IT... everyother day i just roll it up and in the compost it goes.. never touch a piece of poop or get my sleeves in anything yucky.. as long as that keeps working i will keep doing it.. and in the summer the newspaper will get wet and break down quicker..

What is your plan when you have 200 hens?

My birds all sleep in the rafters ( well all except about 6) Any idea how to put poop boards under the rafters?
That is funny. I have 3 hens that always sleep up there. Both my cuckoo marans and one EE. Always.

I enjoy this poop board talk. I STILL haven't gotten that done yet in my coop. I like the pictures to get my brain thinking on how I can do mine when I do it.

I have an old single stall garage I made into my layer coop. All the guineas 3/4 the chickens and a few turkey hens sleep way up in the rafters. I have thought of blocking them from the rafters. BUT they seem to like it there and it is very safe from predators incase I forget their door.

Great Idea! if you can get a hold of some dry sand to "dust" the linoleum with I think it would help the poo not to stick/freeze to it as much.
Good idea. Less scraping is good. Could I just use a small amount of PDZ or do you think the sand would be better?
sand, pdz, doesn't matter. Whatever you have. Many people also mix sand with pdz to keep costs down.

I went back and found some photos of my coop as i was building it last spring. see my flip up roosts made of 2x4s and the angled poop board with gutter. you can see the taping knife hanging over the window that i use for scraping poop.
Very cool!

hard to put a poop board under that! Lol

lv, I took a photo of my lamp. I tie wrapped the handle to the hardware clothe of the run in 3 places. I put hardware cloth over the bulb like a cage so the chickens can't jump up and hit the bulb and start their wings on fire. My guess is a chicken jumped up, hit your lamp and knocked it off the hook... they say you should secure it 3 ways, and cover it somehow.

I miss being able to keep up.

Just had a great weekend of motorcycles non-stop. We had a booth at the International Motorcycle show. Then last night we went to a private unveiling of the new Triumph Thruxton and the Bonneville T120. So much fun.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I like having you just stop by and say Hi when you can. Keeping up can be hard, but many of the posts are just one line conversations that have nothing to do with actual chickeneering...

Did they let you ride a MC around the arena?
