Surviving Minnesota!

Bluebells are blooming . I need to take pictures as I have some white mutants in there . Woodland Phlox are blooming . Rain finally got here . Had to quit using tractor and come in .

holy moley what a productive night! started by grinding and mixing 100 lbs of feed, our first real batch. went well and the flock seems to like it. i need to take the chute off and seal it up a bit more to hold the dust in a bit better. while i have it off i think i will open up the screen a bit more to see if the grind will get a little more coarse.

I cleaned up my asparagus patches and picked a bit for dinner. some nice tender shoots. there were 2 shoots that looked as perfect as i have ever seen but while i was pulling weeds and cleaning around them my stinker dog crushed them with her clumsy paws

Got some new rhubarb roots from DWs coworker and got them planted today. put down news paper and mulched with wood shavings from the compost pile. hopefully it will keep the weeds down and help fertalize over this year as they get set in. looking forward to rhubarb next year

DW is playing in a softball league this summer for the first time ever. im trying to help her prepare but it is pretty much the blind leading the blind out there....

our favorite kitten was watching the evenings proceedings from the low shop roof. she is always nearby and is a great cat. going to the Vet tomorrow to schedule her spay

My SS and comet chicks are growing quickly. learning to roost on a low bar i put in for them

and i got registered for the farmers market today! ready to rock and roll!

Nathan u dont know who Prince was?!
Haha, no I don't. I looked him up, not really my style anyway.

There are a lot of bantam roosters for sale/free on Craigslist. No one wants them. I think I'll give him away with my hens that I'm selling soon, I have to wait until he's old enough they don't pick on him.
Okay! Just to let you know for me craigslist has worked way better than most years. All my kittens and then my drakes got picked up. But maybe roosters are harder to sell, idk.

I read that. He was fighting the flu. Sort of scary that a flu bug can take a person that looked to be in relatively good shape. hard to say if he had any underlying health conditions though, I guess.

His music was from my era. I was a teen in the 80's. I can still remember my sister getting the Purple Rain soundtrack for Christmas and listening to that play and play.

He was a LOT after my time. I doubt I have ever heard him. Unlike Merle who has not sung a song I do not know...

I got rid of a bunch of BA's today. They went to live in South Mpls with a Hmong couple. They will be heading to freezer camp in October. He took 20 day olds, He wanted 12- 3-4 week olds too, he had agreed to 4 dollars on the phone then tried to talk me down here. I refused to budge an inch. So I still have those. Which is fine I need more egg layers anyways.

I have people calling for eggs and I have none.

I'm bummed about Prince too. He was an epileptic. Not sure if that had anything to do with things. What a shame...

I am a huge Prince Fan,, I've loved him since I was young, I used to live in Eden Prairie and got to hang out at Pasley Park quite a few times. I 1st met him when they were doing the movie graffiti Bridge, I lived right down the road. I was sitting on the side of the road and he came over and kissed my hand and told me I was a beautiful vision. And invited me to his home .. He had bowls of candy in every room everywhere. So when I would go over I made sure to always bring candy.. RIP Prince.. I cried today ... BTW at that time he did not use drugs,, he did smoke weed then.. But I have no idea about nowadays...

I knew being a tea totaler was bad for you!! That's why I have my Mike's!
He was Jehovah's Witness. I think a little thinner blood can help sometimes! :)

Wow. That's cool.

Nathan... Prince was amazing... I did enjoy some of his songs. STAY PURPLE FOR PRINCE.
Watching Youtube videos on him tonight. He was very interesting and other music artists say he could play any genre of music. he was so good that when an Interviewer asked Eric Clapton: "How does it feel to be the best guitarist in the world?" Eric Clapton replied, "I don't know. Ask Prince." If you get a chance watch this Rock and Roll Hall of fame video. Scroll to the 3:25 mark. Amazing guitarist. Any person that watches him play close enough will be amazed.

I grew up with vinyl and 8 tracks of Merle, the Oak Ridge Boys, Tanya Tucker, Waylon Jennings, Conway Twitty, etc..etc... But then into my teens I followed my peers into pop music. Cassette Tapes and Later CD's. There's lots of memories hearing Prince's songs. I think he affected many people, by the looks of it.
