Not much new here. I have a ton of things to do, but I find myself being lazy and drinking coffee.... I went to bed early, (surprised???).. the WWD sat up and watched "Shameless" without me so, feeling lazy today, I watched a couple episodes this morning. I have no idea how many she watched so I hope I did not watch too many..

Did anyone go to the swap in Carlton yesterday? Reports needed!

Judy is making me kick the babies out of the house, so I need to make a comfy place for them outside. I have a few chicks in the one hatcher I need to get out today, so I will not be birdless in here.

I sold a bunch of BA's and MA's. It was an accident, I forgot to look at their leg bands. Judy caught it before he left and discreetly asked me what the bands meant... So much nicer than her saying "Dumb Poop Are you selling your special birds?"

I told the new guy they were cross breeds I was working on for BA's without the single comb. He thought the idea was cool and bought them anyways, so I did not have to go get real BA's for him. I did tell him there are no guarantees as to the type of comb and the eggs have been darker and smaller than a full BA. He did not mind. I think he thought it was cool to get a breed someone is trying to develop. ( Watch me fail miserably at this)...

Other than that I spent the day working on my truck...It vacuums still. I need a press to set the races, I am having trouble with that.

Good morning everyone!
I didn't post yesterday because I was so busy!! I cleaned up the area where the chicken pen used to be, the feed barrels were moved, the scrap iron pile was all loaded onto a trailer, all the old barbed wire was thrown in the pit, went on a "cow/calf check with my dad and older sister, and we saw 77/80 cows.

Dakota had a nice nap yesterday, still no calf, then she went out to the back corrals from 6-8 and ate lots of grass, my dad had to help me get her back cause she was not wanting to go back in her part of the corrals.
I won't be home on Tuesday, so I won't be at home when she calves

I put new eggs under my broody, an EE, white Californian, Plymouth rock, and Wyandotte.
That's all I can think of for now.

Hi all. Been very busy. Have a bottle calf because one of the momma cows is being dumb. Other than that nm is going on.

Hope you all have a good Sunday.

Hey Erli, Ed, Ralphie and Jerry: DH's surgery was uneventful and we left the hospital at 9:00pm. Home at 10:30 after quick stop at target. Long day/ night.

They anchored his tendon back to his knee cap. He was dancing last Friday and slipped on some water on the floor. And hit the floor. The tendon popped right away.
He wasn't even that juiced up on brewskis. I was home with the teenagers at the time-- reffing.

Anyways he can't shower for 5-7 days. Just PTAs. Then his immobility brace stays on for 3 weeks. Unless he showers. And then it will be adjusted with a slight bend in PT. That new brace will be 8 weeks. He has not had a wink of sleep all last night. The Vicodin amps him up. But he looks tired. His brace has a bar that digs into his calf. All sorts of complaints but I'm glad he's home and were on the road to recovery.

Hi BogTown and all other chickeners - Down in sunny Green Valley, AZ enjoying a few days before we start, by vehicle, back to Minnesota. Hoping for decent weather for traveling. Bogtown, I though that your DH hurt his shoulder . . . . ?????

It did not take me long to catch up on threads. It must be nice weather up there.

Hello Ivie, Yes it's a beautiful day here! watering apple trees, walked the dog etc. I'm going nuts wanting to look under the broody, noticed one or two pipped eggs this morning!
Have a nice drive back :)

He's complaining about sore shoulders but I'm sure that's alot to do with catching himself with two falls and crutches. Ivie safe travels to you.

Yesterday I worked at a resort cleaning up a lodge and earning extra coin for our fun deductible. It was a blast actually. I've decided it's just going to one of those summers where we buckle down and make some hay while the sun is shining.

So today albeit beautiful I wanted to lay around. Sleep in, etc. FIL came over though with Mil and chatted with us about surgery etc. FIL loaded up the lawn mower then and took to town on floppy snowmobile trailer to fix it shop.

Check.

While they were still here. My father came over with his chainsaw.
Big popple is removed from the lawn.

Check. DS has some splitting to do and unloading from trailer but the bulk of it is done.

I then weathered some 1 x 6 pine planks so they looked reclaimed. Used apple cider vinegar with steel wool then dribbled it on and spread with paint brush. Within minutes the wood looked gray and old.

I have pictures but BYC is disallowing the photo uploads.

Painted DD bedroom gray.

check. New decor gray white with splashes of teal.

And some women's work doing laundry and cooking some crappies coming up.

I went to the Carlton chicken swap. There was no food vender or breakfast sellers like online stated previous swaps had at it. The chicken bingo also wasn't present. The building was barely opened for the bathrooms.

There was a lot of barnyard mix breed chicks. Nobody was tagged or tested. I thought they where supposed to be regulated and everyone tested. I couldn't find the tester either. I asked around. I need to get some birds tested for a swap in lake Elmo on the 8th.

2 or 3 people selling food, a couple selling hard goods like rabbit junk, horse junk, new wood build goat hay feeders and small rabbit hitched and wooden stuff like that.
One lady had a giant sow hog for $300. I fought she sold it. She also had Guppys, that was kind of cool.

There was one lady with calls but it was just one white hen and 4 drakes. They didn't look bad but she didn't know anything about testing and was chain smoking the whole swap while I was there. She got ashes on me so I took it as a sign I shouldn't be interested in her stock.

Someone had Calgary ducks with bad eyes. Much of the stock there wasn't nice, but was was nice and well taken care of was really nice, but not really much pure breed.

A few sellers with lots of peacocks and Guinea they looked nice. And bel mcflue chickens looked nice quality.

Backyard breeding puppy people had a few puppys. Some where ugle toy breed mutts, some full labs.

Many goats. Don't know anything about goats.
2 donkeys.

Someone had quail but they where all bought up before I got there. They where adults and had to many males in the mix by the looks of the females.

Nice plants , the plants where the best thing about it for me. I got some large onion chives for planting for $5.
