Surviving Minnesota!

Hey folks! Well Ralphie is in Memphis and I'm in St . Louis helping my sister with Xmas baking! We will be passing each other on I55 sometime today! He's heading to St . Louis & I'm heading home to Memphis! If I had only known! It would have been the excuse I needed to get out of this baking gig!! And he missed his chance for a turkey fix!

People are insensitive so much these days. Even if she wasn't loved by you or a pet, didn't he recognize that there's an investment of time and money there going down the toilet? People are idiots.

Reminds me of my husbands 40th birthday party. I had spent the week prepping our new yard land scaping. I put in borders along the house and rock retaining walls with landscape fabric and edging and those little rocks. Well this particular family with rambunctious kids had thrown out a bunch of rocks were shoving rocks down a slope then pulling up the fabric. While. The. Mother. Walked. By. And. Didn't. Say. One. Dam. Thing. To reprimand them. I watched her walk by her kids then I hollered at them and asked them if they knew how long it took me to do that?! They stopped looked dumbfounded at me. And their mother had the cajones to look PO ed at me for hollering at her kids. A coule years later DH wanted to have a party in the shed. I said no and he got mad at me. I said fine have the party but your fixing the land scape after the animals leave. He then decided not to have one. I hate lazy insensitive parents.

CRAP!!

I spent 10 minutes typing to have it vanish in a key stroke error!!

I will be typing this in parts and submitting it and editting this, to avoid it happening again, Check back for the editted updates, and forgive spelling errors, my spell check on this phone stinks.

We spent the last 3 days in Montgomery. Interesting little city, between sightseeing and the Commissioning ceremony stuff we have been busy. I read the thread at night but do not get time to respond.

My son is now a 2nd Lt. He says the worlds oldest. He needed an age waiver to attend OTS. His college roommate and post college roommate and him have remained close for years. They were Best man at each others weddings. The BFF is a SR-22 pilot. (raptor) Think most awesome fighter plane in the world. As such he is a Captain in the Air Force ane was able to do the swearing in and oath of office for my son. It was amazing.

I have to say I think there is hope for the country yet when I see these young people. I was amazed and pleasantly pleased when they had the entire crowd stand and they gave a prayer and blessing to and for the new officers!

I have renewed my dislike of many southern foods. I really miss Minnesota. It is where I belong I am afraid. While I like the winters in South Florida and Tx, the rest of the south does not impress me...

Speed limits and no passing zones are purely advisory down here and have no legal bearing on a driver as best as I can tell.

I am so over Taylor and Carrie! I have found a woman with a much bigger jet and bank account. The age difference is way more in my favor. She is 92. She has a net worth of 35 billion. My new loves first name is something like Lilliane... She is heir to the Laureli perfume fortune.... The bad part is she lives in France. I am sure she will move for me. She has kids so I will have to split half the money with them when she passes, I suppose. Unless France is a community property country/state.

On the birds:

I will increase my layers slightly, I want around 30-35 going into winter.

I am going to try to get more pure lines.

I hope to get NPIP certified.

I will have Partridge Chanticler thanks to EJB. My rooster ED I got from him is such a super rooster I want more birds like him.

I want to raise some Creamettes, and maybe show one, time will tell if I do that, I would rather give a trio to a 4h kid to show for me. Just to see if the line I have is worthy of being kept alive. I think it is. but what do I know.

I will raise some pure BA's because they are great mothers and good layers. While not lap chickens they are friendly.

I will raise some Speckled Sussex because they are such great eye candy and freindly lap compliant birds.

I will raise a few EE for the egg basket. I have a heavier EE rooster and I hope he throws good egg color, time will tell.

I would like to get some Dominques. I like barred chickens and while I like my barred rocks I am not going to keep them going.

Time to run bbl to finish

I am now in St Louis finishing this. Incase the post seems incontinent, I would like it known I did have a "bump" or two.

We are in the Union Station hotel. another cool place. Took grandkids to see polar express show. They seemed to like it.

Now back to spring hatching plans EJB asked about the other day.
In addition to the above, I will be doing turkeys. I will be doing my Blue and self blue slates in one pen. I will be doing the blue red bronze with someone I am not sure who, or I forgot, I need to go to Porters caculator and see what I will get.

JJ will get the lions share of the hens, as he has the best genitics to get as many colors as I can. I would like to get a royal Palm and Nagrasett (sp and drinking) hens too,,, HOLM wanna trade anything?

I hope I am not repeating myself. I forget whether it was the post I lost or this one I mentioned all this stuff in. ( I do not see it here).

I am sorta like EJB but not quite. I have to charge once in a while to craigslist people, to keep them honest and to fool Judy into thinking I will not just spend money on birds. I perfer trading or future trades. Never know what I might get. Which brings me back to chickens, I have or had when I left a creamer I am willing to let go for a future draft choice......or whatever other reason you might have for wanting him..

Sounds like you had a family of belly button fish heads over...*

Notice how being with the kids as stopped me from swearing as much? I am so impressed with my behavior!

Those sound like great plans. I am also intrigued by the Chantecler breed but not sure if i will get any soon. they are hard to come by!

I am still working on getting some turkeys approved by DW for next year. I am trying a new technique. I have been heckling her about wanting to get sheep. she keeps saying no. Eventually i will pull back and say "Fine, no sheep just turkeys then" and she will say sure. i am sure it will work!
