I was afraid a vengeful raccoon had gotten you! I was worried about you, I even check Outdoor news to see if some marauding Game warden shot you mistaking you for a bullhead poacher..

How is life treating you? Where you been? Did you get out early for good time? Do you have to wear an ankle bracelet again?

I do not even have enough to bother trying to sweep/clean/plow.

I just find this thread amazing. People that think a wild animal will use logic and respond like a human to a "deterrent" amazes me.

Of course, you all know what the evil Ralphie would do with said possum.

No snow here but we weren't really expecting any, but those meteorologists are wrong so much we could have gotten it all here

The lack of snow is making a trip to Togo much more likely!!! New Years in Togo will be great. No people, no TV just a cozy wood fire and a book.

I cannot drink right now, I have a sore throat and slight cold and am taking my Grandpa's homemade cold medicine.

It works great, the more you take the better it works. I will write the recipes below, JUST REMEMBER drinking alcohol while taking it will!


One large glass fill with Ice cube

a jigger of cinnamon liqueur
a jigger of peppermint liqueur
Fill the glass with cold Peppermint schnapps. ( I use Yukon Jack it seem to help activate the medicinal effects).


I will hate to have a dry New years eve, I do like a Mikes or two, but I never drink while on meds.

So I am date planning for when I want to start my broilers this coming year. I have 2 long weekend trips planned for the first 2 weekends in July, so I want to have my first batches done by then. By that measure here is my time schedules

02-14-2016 - Breeding groups get special Valentines Day accommodations
03-07-2016 - Set Homegrown Broiler chicken eggs
03-28-2016 - Home broilers hatch
04-25-2016 - Take deliver of CX chicks
06-27-2015 - 1 or more Camp days this week

I am hoping to have 20 15ish week old Homegrowns to send to camp and 20 CXs

Then I can start 2 more batches when I get back!

The local elevator sells bulk broiler feed, which I will be looking into this year. Also will be looking into grinding my own. I am sure I can talk my land renter to sell me whole corn, and the elevator sells a Kent brand broiler mix that you grind into corn. The only thing is that it calls for soy meal for a protein boost and I am not sure where I would get that, which is my limiting factor. There is a Kent layer mash mix too, so i have the potential of being able to mix my own layer mix year round then too if I figure that stuff out.
