Surviving Minnesota!

I was thinking you were in IA, my husband is going down to Cedar Rapids in a couple weeks. LOL Illinois is not the same thing! I think it's probably easier if I try to find a more local roo.
If I can't get fertile eggs of my own, I may order some from you in the summertime. I keep looking at your birds!

If you do not want to ship EE eggs, I have them. I have 2 EE roosters, both have the blue egg gene. One is Ole's kid. I got Ole from EJB. The other is Ole's kid too, but he is half Legbar. I do not want to poach Jerry's shipping of eggs, just letting you know I have them if you do not want shipped eggs. I had an EE rooster up until about a month or so ago, I had extras but they went for wok with a nice Asian family, and never returned from the wok. The half legbar rooster is sold, but I am not letting him leave here until May 1st.

No they r from over the summer.

I'm missing my chickens. I went to the coop yesterday & the stupid watered had leaked. Wet mess. I have it in a contained area in the coop because there isn't anyplace outside to put it that I can get to it &'it's protected from the elements. I'm glad I had bought more bedding on my way home. I really need to get the run re done so I can walk into it, then the water could be out there. Mentioned it to my DS so he can watch out for it while I'm gone.

Checked my light colored chick today . Dark feathers coming in on the wing . So that is wheaten influence . Trying to get away from that . There was a wheaten/buff Ameraucana in the mix . That was from a idea that did not work . Wanted to do lemon cuckoo for auto sexing . Yellow chick down is hard to sex and barring lightens leg color . Buff were already light slate . So the 2 hens had barring and went into the EE project .

Quite a day in my house. Picked up my SS at Ralphies, added them to the brooder - Those roos have gotten quite large, after all, they are three weeks old now. It is interesting to see healthy chicks interacting with each other. The SS have been feeding and drinking and climbing into the mama cave to relax.

Now SC. SHE saw the SS at the water and hobbled her way over and drank from it! Yippee!!!!! So she is now eating and drinking on her own. I give her PT every time I think of her and give her the vitamins. She is awake alot more and hobbling all around. She is also just a tiny bit larger than the SS. So I am glad they are with her now.

I also put together a larger, cardboard, broader for the roos as they will need it within a short time. They hop out of the current box when I am cleaning. Just need to find (in the shop) or pick up an insulating board to go on the cement floor and a linoleum scrap (from the next door neighbor) for easier clean up.

I have ordered chicks from Cackle and today they notified me that April 27th is the delivery date. That won't work for me. First of all, its kind of late in the season (EE, Welsummers, and BLRW) and I suppose that makes them later. BUT! I don't have to have those birds. I thought it would be fun for the different colored eggs. I will see if I can cancel that order because I leave for Arizona for a week on 4/30 to help my friend drive back to her Minnesota home. I won't be around until after May 8th. Once I cancel that I will get some chicks at Runnings or the Tractor company and Ralphie, you mentioned you were hatching EEs. I am not looking for more than three EEs, a couple BA and maybe some other chicks for variety. I figure I have room for sixteen LIVE birds (LOL) and not all chicks make it to the laying age (or crowing.)

Okay - thats enough about me now what do you have to say about me? Just kidding. (Bette Midler used it in a line in a movie.)
