Quite a day in my house. Picked up my SS at Ralphies, added them to the brooder - Those roos have gotten quite large, after all, they are three weeks old now. It is interesting to see healthy chicks interacting with each other. The SS have been feeding and drinking and climbing into the mama cave to relax.
Now SC. SHE saw the SS at the water and hobbled her way over and drank from it! Yippee!!!!! So she is now eating and drinking on her own. I give her PT every time I think of her and give her the vitamins. She is awake alot more and hobbling all around. She is also just a tiny bit larger than the SS. So I am glad they are with her now.
I also put together a larger, cardboard, broader for the roos as they will need it within a short time. They hop out of the current box when I am cleaning. Just need to find (in the shop) or pick up an insulating board to go on the cement floor and a linoleum scrap (from the next door neighbor) for easier clean up.
I have ordered chicks from Cackle and today they notified me that April 27th is the delivery date. That won't work for me. First of all, its kind of late in the season (EE, Welsummers, and BLRW) and I suppose that makes them later. BUT! I don't have to have those birds. I thought it would be fun for the different colored eggs. I will see if I can cancel that order because I leave for Arizona for a week on 4/30 to help my friend drive back to her Minnesota home. I won't be around until after May 8th. Once I cancel that I will get some chicks at Runnings or the Tractor company and Ralphie, you mentioned you were hatching EEs. I am not looking for more than three EEs, a couple BA and maybe some other chicks for variety. I figure I have room for sixteen LIVE birds (LOL) and not all chicks make it to the laying age (or crowing.)
Okay - thats enough about me now what do you have to say about me? Just kidding. (Bette Midler used it in a line in a movie.)
