Surviving Minnesota!

Aren't there FCC rules on prohibiting people communications? Like everyone has the right to...etc. I'm not sure what allowances are made to overly 'worked' companies but I smell something amiss. Those companies make lots of money...you'd think they'd be able to hook her up/ figure it out for Pete sake. I think also the TV streaming world is hard to keep up with for internet etc. I can tell my basic internet package cannot sometimes take the loads we put on it. Always Buffering. But I refuse to pay more money for the upgrade. ugh. Always more money.

Good Morning. The sun is shining the rooster is crowing and life is okay.

Those of us in the banana belt that DO get the snow know that it will not last on the ground and will be beautiful to look at while its coming down. No sweat. No snow removal. We are relaxed people because of our tropical climate. Right Ralphie?

Nothing else to say right now. Have a gud morning fellow chickeniers

If we should get some snow, which I highly doubt, I plan to put XL garbage bags on my banana plants to prevent the banana crop from being a total loss.

we are right in the heart of the heavy snow band. I gassed up the plow truck and aired up the tires last night to be ready. I wont plow if I can help it. I will have a right muddy mess if I do!

I can only hope for the ground to get good and warm to melt off the first few inches then the rest to melt quickly!

I spent about 45 minutes last night raking the rocks out of the yard by the house from plowing snow. I don't want to do that again!

When is this snow suppose to come? I cannot see anything on my weather apps about it. Are they lying to me?

One of my last posts I was saying my last hen that would go broody died this winter. Well, my Bresse girl decided to show me. She has been sitting for about 4 days, so I decided to give her some eggs. I'm not trusting her with expensive eggs until she proves herself, so I just gave her a few of her own, along with a few from 2 hatchery hen's eggs. Hers might be pure. I have 2 roosters in there, the Bresse, and a bantam Cochin. The Bresse is definitely top dog, but the little guy might have snuck in from time to time. Hoping I will be able to tell. I would think since the Cochin is "calico", any of his offspring will have leakage?

I am also picking up some BLRWs this week. I could have tried giving them to her, but as a first time mom, I don't trust her yet. If my cochin was still around, she made a good foster mom... ah well. Speaking of Cochins, I am picking up a dozen calico Cochin eggs next week. They said fertility has been low, so they are giving me a good deal. I will be happy if I get 3 or 4 chicks out of the deal. (They sell chicks too, but I have gotten Calico Cochin chicks from two different places, and both times they were all roosters. I feel like they can tell, and just offer me boys.) The hens I did have I bought as pullets. I might order some eggs to go into the bator with them, so I have more than just a couple hatching. My Legbars should be laying soon. They boys are definitely mature. I need to separate them from my Orps, because the lebars are after the orp girls, and I know they aren't mature yet. , because they mature slowly. (Even though they are 2x as big as the Legbars. LOL )

I just got my April Fools day joke!

I moved the Creamettes from the hatcher to the brooder.

Here is the count:

1 white sport!
3 creamettes
15 creamers

Can you believe that 15 boys and 3 girls? What is going on? I do not need that much soup this year!

There are a few unhatched eggs but the chances of them hatching are 10% or less now.
