Ralphie we have found that female cats become really friendly right before and then after having babies... Our wildcats use to run and hide from us until they got Prego and close to having babies. Then they became a lot more tolerant...

She will bring them to you eventually.. it really helps when they have tame parents... Don't be surprised if OC disappears now... Males tend to vanish after the females have babies... The females chase them away...


What kind of babies did the Apeltini hatch? Mutts?

Yes I do still have a duck. She will die here... Of hopefully natural causes... But she is the last of her kind that I will raise... Although I have made more money from Ducks than I have chickens...

I told Judy I was surprised GC allowed OG to stay as close as he is to her. They were drinking milk together tonight..(NOT real milk, we give them powder milk to make them think we love them)..

Dont tempt me on Appletinis! I am gonna focus on the breeds I have. I am excited to work with some of these birds... I am pretty lucky to be able to start out with great stock!

Speaking of Silkies. I have an extra Partridge Silkie rooster out of Show lines that I need to find a home for.

I know I gotta get more pictures. Friday I began revamping my covered run so that portions of it will accommodate a winter coop within this covered run. Trying not to recreate the coop type thing. KISS.
Also, Rosie's chick is now three weeks old and I notice that more distance is allowed to happen between them. And the chick is 'blue' I think - which I said was silver before this. The GLW are now three months old. Almost ready to introduce them to the large flock.
Took some serious measurements Friday morning and there is 250 sq ft of uncovered coop in various space increments - not like a 10 x 25 coop. Its along both sides of the garage and along the back of the garage and then around the existing covered coop. Okay. Pretty happy with how it is all turning out. After three years I feel I have gained a small amount of knowledge thanks to you guys and have learned a few lessons in chickening. Coops, heat, light, egg laying, combs, feed, medications, free-range or not, predators, roosters, hatching, WOW! Hang in there newbies. Its addicting!
