Surviving Minnesota!

Good Morning All,
Boss called in sick at 6:00am. We have big compensation study to present to the board. It looks like we turned into I! Oh well......

All are invited to CCD on Sunday. I will not be preaching any type of religion.

I have a buckeye cockerel that thinks he is king pin and his pullets hate him. They remain on the roost bar far away from him. I think it is time to send him out of his breeding pen for a while.

Have been working with a bunch of new 4H kids.....amping them up for showing poultry. Yesterday was the official last day to sign up so my email was exploding. It is all good because we can change this world one poultry lover at a time.

Garden may be limited to squash this year. We have an invasive plant known as Elephant Ear growing. They get to be 12 - 14 feet tall and have taken over again this year. They are a bulb with a tube and it reproduces like nothing I have ever seen before. We thought we had it killed off about 4 years ago so I planted my raspberries in that spot.....well this year I have only 4 raspberry shoots and about 400 elephant ear shoots. I'm thinking it is time to call in the big guns and dig out the entire area with a mini backhoe and invest in the real round up weed killer from the farm. Anyone have any other ideas?

Edit to Add: CCD = Cockerel Culling Day

All is well here. Flock good and healthy, 6 hens giving 4 or 5 eggs daily, so if need be, we can get Judy's omelette needs covered.

The young rooster that we kept crows like a son of a gun. On and off all day. They neighbors are less than thrilled. They were fine with Sentry. He didnt so too much crowing beyond daybreak. I had hoped that getting rid of his competition would get the crowing to a minimum. Any ideas?
