It's amazing how all that works.
We're pretty sure she got injured when we were transporting them to the coop, since she was fine before hand. Hm, dunno if it's slow to be honest, she seems to eat fine. Maybe the crop just slows down closer to evening?
Can you post a photo of the poop?I noticed something red in one of her stools! Did I do something wrong??
I actually cleaned and threw it out. I haven't seen any red stuff since so, maybe it was a weird fluke. I made an appt for her tomorrow at a vet, so hopefully we'll know what up and what action to take. Can you post a photo of the poop?
I would leave feed all day for her to eat, the crop should be full at night, empty in the morning.
If you see any more, take some photos. It could have been a one time intestinal shedding, but if it's consistent or if poop looks bloody, she becomes lethargic, then it would be best to treat for Coccidiosis.I actually cleaned and threw it out. Will do! Wait, intestinal shedding? I would hope she's not getting sick on top of this. Her stools have been normal since that one this morning, which is a good thing. If you see any more, take some photos. Sometimes there can be a little intestinal shedding - it's the sloughing off as the chick grows. A one time thing is not that concerning, but I agree with @Eggcessive take a stool sample with you when you go to the vet, they can look to see if there is an Coccidia to be concerned about. Will do! She's a month. Everyone hatched in February I think the week of Valentine's. Haha, I'm sure she'll provide some herself, but if I see another red one, I'll grab it.How old is she now? It would not hurt to start her on Corid or a sulfa antibiotic if the vet sees any coccidia in her droppings (they can check the droppings with a fecal test.) Glad that you can take her to a vet.
Huh, interesting. Kinda like a "chicken period" XD. So much going on with these little guys!Sometimes there can be a little intestinal shedding - it's the sloughing off as the chick grows.
