Swirly had her first vet visit, and everything went well! I told the vet everything I do and Swirly's improvements. She's been getting stronger throughout the week, going from barely standing to standing, and making more attempts to walk forward instead of reverse. She's been making more attempts at holding her head up. The vet said it's a vitamin deficiency after examining her, so no need for x-rays or anything. I did point out about the two stools of having something red in them and showed her the photo. She handed me a thing saying to get a fecal sample so they can check for parasites, and also said that the red stuff could be stress. I told her that if I find any more red ones over the weekend that I'd collect them anyway for her to see.

It's all thanks to you guys for getting me on the right track! You've all been so patient and helpful, I can't thank you guys enough! Swirly still has a way to go, but hopefully she'll recover nicely!

Glad to hear your vet visit went well!
I hope Swirly continues to improve. Thank you for the update and please keep us posted on how it's going.

That's great! I am so glad you were able to take her to the vet - it can be hard to find a chicken vet. The chick I treated for wry neck is now 1 year old, and I still have to supplement her food with some extra vitamin E periodically. She actually had a follow up a few months ago at the vet's and all was well, but the vet said that she just doesn't process/store vitamin E for some reason. So a couple times a week she gets her "special bread" treat with the vitamin E. Good luck with Swirly and keep us posted as to her progress!

"I'm getting stronger! Even if I still walk in reverse!"

Doing great today! She was holding her head up more and walking forward to her food bowl. Now I may have to get her some kind of fine sand; she's now trying to dust bathe on my snuggie XD. Also trying to figure out how splaying works (lying on one side). I even moved the hanging toys up more to promote her to stretch that neck!
