I remember my son doing that. He SUCKED so bad at baseball, and at ONE game - the championship game - he threw the ball SOOOOO far to win the game. He only shining moment in baseball!
Sometimes it's kind of hard to watch. He wants to soooo bad. And I'm afraid he doesn't have an athletic bone in his body which is too darn bad because he's built like a brick wall and is going to end up being well over 6 feet I'm guessing. It's just heartbreaking to watch when they want it so bad - but boy - he hit that ball and he just glowed. Honestly - a happy - glowing 7 year old is worth his weight in gold.
Just remember that sports for kids is about FAR more than performing well. It was the only reason I had my son in sports was to learn how to lose gracefully. It teaches them about being a team, supporting each other, how to step out of their comfort zone, how to compromise, how to make generous decisions. All things they need later in life.
