Hey everyone,
Yesterday afternoon, my cockerel somehow got out of his enclosure and got into the backyard, where my roommate's dogs killed him. R.I.P. Henry. So now I don't need to find a home for him. I still have probably about 8 lbs of his feed, though, as well as an almost-new tub of mealworms, an almost-full bottle of Wazine, and his feeder and waterer. He was a young dude and VERY underweight (literally no muscle or fat on his keel) and poor feather quality when I got him, so I had made a concoction of organic layer pellets (I was told he was a pullet, so...), organic scratch, traditional starter feed (with antibiotics in them, in case he had a secondary infection from homelessness and malnutrition), and crushed oyster shell. I know it's a weird combination of foods, but went with it based on conversations with both my vet and the people at Tomlinson's and Buck Moore.
So anyway... if anyone wants any of these things and you live near Austin, let me know and we can arrange a place to meet. I am not planning on getting any more chickens until my roommate and her chicken-killing dogs move out in October, and I can build a larger, more secure enclosure in the backyard, so there's no reason for me to keep any of this stuff for now.
