Texas

Hey folks!
There is, what I have heard, a really cool show in January in College Station-it's called The Bluebonnet Classic".
One of the men that organizes the show told me that they have what they call a "Backyard Show" for people to show birds that are not APA or ABA recognized along with the regular show. I'm so excited about this because I get to show my Pyncheon Bantams!
Sure hope some of ya'll will be there!

Hey everyone, got an interesting (kind of sad) problem. I got some eggs off of e-bay about 21 or 22 days ago, kept candling and not much happened. Yesterday one finally hatched and another peeped and peeped and peeped and I finally helped it out this morning and there is quite a problem. One of its feet looks to be backwards. Yep, backwards. It seems okay other than that once it got some food and water, but some of my other chicks are picking on it. Should I wait and see how it does or...? Do yall think it could learn to walk on it? Any thoughts on what to do or a cause would be apreciated.

I'm just north of you, in Montgomery. DH works in Cypress (at HP) and we are in the Tomball area pretty frequently.

We are in the process of building our coop. I designed my windows just like yours! I am interested in a close up pic of your windows and what you use to hold them up. I'm putting hardware cloth across the openings, with hinges on top to lift up, but am still up in the air about how to hold the "flaps" up.

I'll be online all day tomorrow .. so we can chat! Welcome, and I look forward to getting together...

Awwwwwwww .. he's very cute .. I'm kinda Marans ignorant but how do you know it's a roo? Are they color sexed or something?

Texasgal,
your roo Shiner is very handsome!!! What is his personality like? How does he treat his girls?
I got 6 Salmon Faverolles pullets this past spring from Ideal to add to my mixed flock and am very happy with them. After seeing Shiner I'm considering getting a SF roo for them.
Several years ago I got some silver laced wyandotte pullets from the feed store (they were from Ideal) and one pullet turned out to be a roo who was VERY handsome BUT VERY aggressive. He'd come at me sometimes but mainly picked on Petey, my tubby sheltie male. After several months of discord, the slw roo went to Mr. Dollar, the chicken man. At that same time a friend of mine had the same experience, (same feed store, same hatch of chicks) she also ended up with a slw pullet that turned out to be a roo who was equally aggressive.
Through the years my roosters have mainly be 'accidents', so it's not often I get to actually decide what kind of roo I want, but your Shiner Bock is SO striking!!!
