My sickly hen seems to be improving some. She was in the yard with the flock today and ate some greens and cucumber. She is more lively and her comb has more color thatn it's had for several days. We also got a brief shower which helped cool it down here, She is due another meds treatment this evening before they go to roost.

I hear ya!!! It's just nasty! But then I guess if you' ve raised kids and animals you get tough or at least more able to deal with stuff.
Glad your pup is still improving.
Well...he improved enough to push the door open and got my Eloise.

After I saved his butt..
Hubby blocked off the door but forgot that's not enough to keep him from getting outside.

Down to 3! They keep going after poor Lil Blue, but she's to smart or fast for them..she just gets dirty

Who would have thought a Silkie would make it longer..

I have 8 more babies coming tomorrow..

Oh no! You're ****** if you do and ****** if you don't at this point. Gosh that sucks.

I had a scare yesterday. I moved the duck pen around. I stake is down all around too because I know my dogs... Well it's nice and shaded in there so my beagle mix wanted in. She was laying in there with the ducks! She is also the one that is the most interested in them and worries me. That was a shocker. I went to pull her out and the ducks were starting to panic but she wasn't even phased. I do not want a repeat of that but I'm glad that she is okay with them now. I still don't trust any of my dogs.

This pup you worked so hard to save got one of your chickens???

Why do you have to give up your ducks????

I dont have room for alot of ducks, I hatch or let them hatch, and sell.. these babies need a responsible home though. These ducklings can not be bred together.. the owners have to remove eggs and keep them from having babies from their blood.. if they want to switch out eggs once they are done laying the eggs then thats fine, but they cant let them produce their own offspring. They are too close related in the bloodline

Ok..I understand...didn't know you were talking about many ducks, thought you were speaking of having to give up your own flock. Whew!!!

He's gotten 3 since he's been here. All of them this last month, with the last one being yesterday.
Yes...same pup that had Parvo. That I spoon fed Pedialyte and begged him to eat. I was so riled up yesterday I told my husband I kind of regretted it.

What does everyone do for new chick arrivals?
I'll make some electrolytes tonight. Should I give them some scrambled or minced boiled eggs a little bit after arrival?
