My husband and I both start the brain injury program this coming Tuesday. It will be three weeks long and will teach us how to live with the permanent injuries we have sustained.

We have added 6 chicks to our lives who are about a month old and chicken math is getting to me already, but it's my therapists fault. He only got two and we all know you need three for a flock. Anyone know where I can get an easter egger for his third? I might need one or two to add to my flock as well. :)

If my posts are disjointed or don't make sense, forgive me. I have some trouble following linear thought but I will get it there eventually. So bear with me! I have to say grocery shopping is a blast. I forget that I get things sometimes so I find surprises in the fridge or the cabinet and it's lots of fun!

Good luck with the rehab! I hope everything goes really well for the both of you.

Howdy!
I'm in Copperas Cove. That's on the west side of Fort Hood. I have Welsummers, Blue, Blue Copper, and Black Copper Marans, Marraduna Basque, Lavender Orpingtons, Easter Eggers, Wheaten Ameraucanas, and Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons. I'm a hatch-a-holic, and always have chicks around! I also have hatching eggs for most of these breeds right now.
I am NPIP tested and TAHC registered.

Welcome!

Wish you were close. Orps are my favorites, and I would love to get some more colors that are non hatchery. I have 3 hatchery Buffs right now, and they are my favorites! I'm on the look out for some BBS Orps, but wouldn't say no to any of the other colors either.

It's a sad day here on the home front. My favorite rooster, Lyle ( my icon rooster ), died today. He was killed by another rooster while I wasn't home. Lucky will live, and had seven years on Lyle.... which, even though Lyle out weighed him by three or more pounds didn't help his survival on the young buck. It looks as if he punctured a lung with a broken rib.... Lucky sure put a whoopin' on my poor boy. He will be buried tomorrow under the big oak tree he spent so much time under. RIP old boy.
Aww, so sorry this happend to Lyle. He was such a pretty rooster!

Hello every1!! Been a loooonnnng time since I visited.
Welcome back!

Rain is almost here. Looks like some strong storms with lots of rain. We still have water standing everywhere with no where for it to go. I know this summer we will be wishing for rain, but sheesh! We could use a little break.

I had a question and was hoping someone might be able to help me figure out the answer. I bought 6 new chicks from Tractor Supply. They are Yellow-Sex Linked Pullets. I was just trying to figure out what breeds these come from. I know they aren't pure bread but when I looked up Yellow-Sex Link all I get is info on Black and Red Sex Linked Chicks. I just wanted to know what colors to expect.
They are Leghorns. I got some from the same TSC you did. Some of the folks posting here are right - the employees are absolute morons.

Are you on strike?

Good luck with the rehab! I hope everything goes really well for the both of you.

I hpoe so too! Would love to be able to cook again or perhaps drive the car.

My yard hasn't dried out yet! I swear, I bought a house within a mile of the lake but the lake is dried up, and it says I have land but I think all I have is swamp! The only dry place is where the chicken coop is!

Anyone ever use bantam Cochin's as brooders??
I haven't but I have heard of other people succeeding.

Agree, I've got some from TSC and they were leghorns.

And here are some pictures of the new flock.

Okay. I meant to add what they were before I posted. Sorry about that. The roo will be a rhode island red roo. The white one with the speckles will be a delaware not sure on the sex of that one. The white one is a mystery but I am fairly sure it is a white leghorn.

Edited to add Pwint Shinbuster and the messy kitchen: (sorry folks everyone but me got a stomach flu so I did my best to keep up and the trash got behind)
