I use to live on the river(Guadalupe) but the flood of 98' took my house, a two story. Water was completely over the house, about 40 feet deep. I rebuilt on H beams 16' above the ground and sold it soon after built.

Yeah, I have a couple of friends there....their trying to get back in to look at the damage/loss. Both raise birds...I suspect none of their birds survived.Seeing pics of Rockport on weather channel. I am heart broken.
Sorry to here about your losses. Hope it doesn't get much worse for you. Prayers.Have several oak trees down, have lost several birds. Saved 1 Yellow golden male, guess you can figure what his name will be now. Stupid pheasants just stand out in the storm, instead of getting in the shealtered part of their enclosure.
The eye of Harvey is about 10 miles away, right now, have sustained winds near 60mph, gusts around 70mph. Rain coming down horizontal. Have already got 10 inches.
X 2, lives are always more important than things, it is horrible, however, to loose everything you have worked for your whole life. Been there with you SeanYeah, my heart goes out to all of Rockport, I know what it's like to loose everything....hopefully, they at least still have their lives.
What a wonderful man you are Wink, not many people would be willing to put up with family disrupting their home for however long it takes to get back on their feet. You are earning your wings for sure, takes a lot of patience and love to make it through that. Having been "homeless" after Katrina, I know how much it means to at least know you have a roof over your head. You are a hero in my opinion. Give yourself a big pat on the back and a hug from me and my family!Got some rain here, not much wind. I've got 11 folks from the coast sheltering here now. One has grandparents near Rockport, but they went to place north of Austin several days ago, with most of their belongings in a storage "cube". Not expecting their apartment to be there now. Just grateful they are all safe!
Blessings and peace to y'all. Sean, please be safe. I'm so sorry for your losses. I hope and pray for your success in recovering. My thoughts are with you all down there. And with those in lovely Louisiana.
I hope they are pleasently surprised, however, I think you are probably right. Have never had to expirence that after a hurricane, my heart goes out to them. It will be hard no matter what they have lost, as you said, one's life and family's life is more important. Hope they are a close enough family to remember that and be able to cling to that for comfort. Sometimes thats all you have, family and faith in yourself that you will be able to over come this.Yeah, I have a couple of friends there....their trying to get back in to look at the damage/loss.
