Texas

@Sherrie G Welcome from East of Houston. Pretty flock and stout coop! Did you build it yourself?

Ours have just started laying and we are eating a lot of great tasting, backyard laid, fresh eggs. This is our first go. How long have you played with chickens?
My husband and I built it, this is our first go at chickens too. Pretty happy with the constant supply of tasty eggs we get. Get so many we have had to share some to keep them from stacking up.

What a beautiful problem to have! Yes, we are eating more than our share and sharing around too. Need to get a box to the neighbors and say thanks for putting up with the noise. I don't know if we are peaking due to cold weather or just hitting stride. 10 eggs from 18 birds. It's gonna be fun next spring!

I had way too much fun building our coop. The daughters helped but the wife stayed in the AC. A good time was had by all.

Cheers!

Hope you all get into that class and will be able to sell lots and lots of chickies! We really do need more outlets in Texas or near enough for a road trip. Right now I would love to purchase some new Orpingtons, but cannot find them. If you know a source, please let me know.

Have you checked Ideal Poultry?

Since Ideal Poultry does not ship in cool weather, I don't believe they are hatching. I will call tomorrow to be sure. Certainly hope they do have babies because it would be so easy to integrate new ones with the week-olds I already have. Thank you. You guys are so appreciated!

Ideal is still shipping chicks, right now.
I actually think they do year round.
