Texas

Currently, the city ordiance does allow chickens, but they must be kept 150 feet away from any property line....That doesn't apply to me and I believe as with many other Allen citizens who live on a cookie cutter, small lot size within a subsdivision...I'm desperately trying to find people in the city to change this, to allow us keeping at least a small flock of hens in our backyard....I'm unable to find more than 2 citizens who can join....

Anyone has any other suggestion for me to recruit more local people?  Please help!

Thank you!
Be sure it does say "property line." Lots of folks in Houston think they can't because it says "200 feet from the nearest dwelling" but that means physical house, not property line. And I'm blessed to be in an area with big lots and we leave each other alone.

Won't know until you try. Sometimes the problem is not enough girls to boys, other times, it is just the fact that there is another rooster period.

I've got a coop that has 3 boys and 6 girls together and while two of the boys bicker occasionally, there aren't any real problems and everyone is happy. Then I had a similar set up with another group but just had to take the third boy out because the other two cockerels were going after him. And then I have some cockerels that won't stand for ANY other male to be near them. Just depends on personalities.

X2! Each Roo is different so each situation is different. I also have 2 roos together, no problems other than small little bickering. However, I have a roo that I am sure would kill any other roo I put in with him. None of the ones in question are Game Birds. Makes me more willing to take on a Game Bird, LOL!

4 roos and 13 hens.... no problems here!
