Texas

I have 3 Roos with 11 hens. The Roos are all brothers and 5 1/2 months old. The hens are 6 months and some 5 1/2 months. Roos are fighting now. I think it is partly because they are half old OEG. I took 2 out of the coop and run but when I let them free-range it is game on. That is why I was trying to give 2 away but no takers yet. Going to start on my silkie coop and run in about a month. Can't wait because they try to attack my silkie roo every time I let him and his new little buddies out to play. Poor Lucky cant get a break for anything. I guess if all else fails maybe I can get DH to kill the two and we can eat them. I just can't do it since I have had them from hatch. Anyone want two eating Roos? :D

Hello, fellow Texans!
After almost a decade in AR and MO, we are planning to move to Amarillo this winter/spring. I am most interested in white or silver gray Dorkings, rather interested in all heritage breeds of livestock, and a big fan of a colorful egg basket.
Glad to be going home, where the stars at night are big and bright.

Having lived in a couple other states for short periods of time, I really know how you feel. It's the "ahhhhhhhhh" as you cross the Texas border.

Welcome back to Texas :yiipchick We have Painted Desert Sheep, I'm not familiar with "Shetland" sheep :caf

thank you, chucklecluck, knobbyoaks and jockeyeba, I am thrilled to be returning to the Lone Star State!
Shetland sheep are one of the northern European short-tailed breeds of sheep, and I was told they had the highest numbers of registrations in the US last year. If you check out my website, www.neopolitanacres.com, you can see pics of my sheep and click on the educational links on the right-hand side.
Painted Desert Sheep are very attractive, what are their temperaments like?
