What feeders are you using? Mine waste a lot of feed.
I feed crumble to everyone because I seem to have mama hens with babies all the time.

Harris Farms 15 lb. Hanging Poultry Feeder I don't hang them just set up off the ground on something, or in the case of two on the ground. I have the larger version as well that holds 30 lb but I never fill it all the way up.

I would think due to the lighter color that it may be loss of/or slow circulation.

Same, my chickens make a mess with any kind of feeder like that...I use port feeders

Mine do good with the metal hanging feeders. The only time I had an issue was last year with some grow outs. They'd dump 40 pounds of crumble on the ground and I'd make them clean every bit of it up before I fed them. When I switched them to pellets as they got older I didn't have the issue anymore.
