Texas

I lost 37 - 39 of the grow outs that just went out 3 weeks before. They where all in the new pen. All others are good, even the other pen that the tarp got ripped off of. They where just not ready for that kinda rain. I was surprised at the other pen that all made it with out their tarp. Even the four Silikes in that pen made it.
I’m sorry to read about the damage from that storm. Here in austin we got some heavy rain, but no winds.
Are you going to make some changes to the coop? I noticed the email newsletter I get from Silver Homestead in Magnolia addressed the hurricane issue.

We are working on getting a fence company to set the pens in chain link and the having a cover built over the last third of the pen for weather production.

Mind the adults had no issues with the storm.

I should be happy for rain here in Central TX, but this is literally putting a huge damper on my coop construction. 😐
Us, too! We’ve had somewhere in the neighborhood of 12” rain since mid-June, and that’s very unusual. Welcome, though! Been trying to build a larger coop for the girls - on hold for now til it dries up a bit. We’re in Anderson County.

Ok my hen that just had those babies is trying to attack my other baby chick that I have in the yard with her but in a kennel separately . should I let my baby chick run free outside the fence she is 1 month and 1 week old

Ok thanks I'll just wait till she's 3 months old and let her outside away from the protective mama chicken. We have a big 6ft fence around our yard so my baby chick should be safe from her if she outside the fence.
Oh, I think I misunderstood then, if she'll be in an area the broody can't get to her, it should be ok. Wait, are you talking about letting her out with the rest of the flock? I'm not opposed to that, but she'll need some accommodations, i.e. a safe space only she can get in to with food and water, and plenty of places to duck for cover from the other birds. Pics of your setup and what exactly you have in mind please.

Hey there, I’m new to the site, and was wondering if anyone was looking to give a girl a free baby rooster? I’m in the Dallas area.
I just happen to have a 4 week old black copper marans cockerel you can have, I'm about an hour and 40 min south of you. Welcome to the Texas thread and BYC!
