Well. I’ve been missing our Great Pyrenees siblings since they both crossed the rainbow bridge over Christmas 2023/24…. Now I have a sad extra reason for missing them.

A predator got into the run/coop yesterday and got 2 of our silkies. A hen and a rooster.

During the same time window one of the surprise hatchlings passed away as well in the dog crate. So today I buried 3 chickens- well, the remains of 2 and the hatchling.

Tonight I closed it up extra tight and prep’d for tomorrows rain the forecast to arrive right around sunrise.

Well… night night y’all.

Oh, I think I misunderstood then, if she'll be in an area the broody can't get to her, it should be ok. Wait, are you talking about letting her out with the rest of the flock? I'm not opposed to that, but she'll need some accommodations, i.e. a safe space only she can get in to with food and water, and plenty of places to duck for cover from the other birds. Pics of your setup and what exactly you have in mind please.
Well I've got the coop since she sleeps there I think I'll put that outside the fence. So she can get in it and be safe. The pic has her in the kennel and the chicken coop there too. Albeit hard to see all of it.

Yeah kinda hard to see what all is going on. Where do your other birds sleep?
