Texas

Well. I’ve been missing our Great Pyrenees siblings since they both crossed the rainbow bridge over Christmas 2023/24…. Now I have a sad extra reason for missing them.

A predator got into the run/coop yesterday and got 2 of our silkies. A hen and a rooster.

During the same time window one of the surprise hatchlings passed away as well in the dog crate. So today I buried 3 chickens- well, the remains of 2 and the hatchling.

Tonight I closed it up extra tight and prep’d for tomorrows rain the forecast to arrive right around sunrise.

Well… night night y’all.
Awww man both puppers passed. 😢

My goodness would it please stop raining!
For real! I've actually been ready to go to try and get this thing finished and I'm being foiled at every turn. Forecast for thunderstorms in the next two days, as well. I'm at the point where I'm willing to work outside, but not in the thunder. I did try to explain to my wife that the poultry pen should be a Faraday cage so I think I'm safe if I stay inside of it, but I'm not 100% sure the science works out if you're standing in a pool of water.

I can see that you were passed up as well when they were handing out patience 🤣

Are you barefoot or wearing rubber boots?

Rubber boots for the win.

Although rubber boots in July are hot and sweaty too. And if you are touching anything, that is another ground point. It's best not to be wet in a lightning storm. Best to be dry and inside.

Barefoot in the mud is much more fun.
