PD's are a "hair" sheep, they don't taste muttony like woolie's do We butcher 1 or 2 every year, depending on how many get sold. Ours start at $100.00 depending on how colorful they are or aren't

We feed sheep pellets & bermuda horse hay + grass(when there is any), alfalfa when they're fixing to lamb & after lambing
If you get any mostly white lambs like http://arrowjranchpainteddesertsheep.weebly.com/uploads/6/8/2/1/6821694/1349109893.jpg you had or the baby in this one http://arrowjranchpainteddesertsheep.weebly.com/uploads/6/8/2/1/6821694/1331609459.jpg what would be a price guestimate?

I'm between Killeen and Lampasas... I just bought the 5 dairy goats.. so I might hit you up for some barbados next spring! I clean skulls as a hobby.. so saving horns and skulls just comes naturally to me

No problem just let me know when you are interested and I'll see what I've got or can get my hands on.

I love them! What do your lambs go for? Mine won't have that big of a pen that is why I only want two or three. Babies will be sold or slaughtered. Depends on if I get a taste for lamb.

What is the best feed for them btw if I am just going to buy them feed. Alfalfa and a commercial sheep diet? I really only want them just for pets, so I was looking for bottle lambs, but I can only find older ones right now and they want a lot for them.

Let me talk to DH. He is slightly against me getting a male dog (even though I prefer them) Since he has a male GSD that is unaltered. He doesn't want fighting with our house mate having a female unaltered GSD.
If I get any orphans I'll post it, I won't take one off of momma if she takes the lambs

The 1st one $150.00 range & the 2nd one we sold for $200.00- we had planned on keeping her for a replacement ewe.

I love bottle babies.... they are a lot of work though. One of the goats I'm getting was a triplet.. his mother just didn't have enough milk to go around.. so they pulled him and on the bottle he went. Not an ideal situation.. but some times it just happens.

Anyone ever had rabbits in with their chickens? I had heard of it being done before, but I wanted to know if it was actually possible.

I know of people who have.. they told me they had no "major" issues except for the chickens messing with the doe's nests and the rabbits eating the chicken feed..

so it's one of those things where you have to try it to see if yours will work and play nice.

Thanks!

I have never raised a bottled goat or sheep before, will be my first time. I have helped feed some kittens and pups at the clinic, and even an orphaned baby rat that sadly didn't make it. I think they got some of the rat poison from their mom before they came out of hiding, or it had just been too long since they had eaten. I was so sad, they were so cute. The bottle mix for the babies is so expensive, but I have read some various ways to make it with whole milk, eggs, and cream that has worked for many. I really want to get a flemish giant or two, maybe another breed. Not entirely sure yet tho.
