Texas

I'll hold you to that!

I do know of a breeding ground for them not too far from my home.. but the guy who owns the barn where they nest isn't very fond of people bothering the buzzards..
I will stick to it as well. If I see a baby that isn't attended properly you will have it on your doorstep fairly quickly.
The almost finished coup/run. still need to apply some HW cloth on the "eaves" as you can see, but i hinged the roof so i can get in, and actually didnt even use the one hing i bought so i didnt spend a dime on this project, only time, sweat, and tears (sweat getting in your eyes stings!)

Here are my two EE's scoping things out, and the rear end of one of the BR's

A group shot of the T"eggs"ans checking out their new feeder...

Bonnie, My EE that has a real golden campine look to her

Elvis(Elvira) the friendliest of my chicks! BA

And one of the BR's that was in mid peck, lol....cant tell these three guys apart for life of me, and they all act the same....so yeah!

But there we go! i feel official now! seems like anyone can have a box with chicks in it, but once you got a filled coup its offiicial! thanks everyone who has been answering my questions to this point! but im sure there is plenty more to come!
Beautiful birds! And they look thrilled with their run. I still have to build my grow out run.

Hi, I'm Karen (member name "makingshift"). I'm about 500 ft outside the Austin city limits. We have had chickens for several years and we are just now starting out with ducks and guineas. I'd love to add turkeys and rabbits to that list in the next two years. We are on 1.3 acres. Nice to see so many Texas folks.

Pleasure to meet you! I hope you find this thread as exciting and as informative as I have.

Hi and welcome to the Texas thread. I live about 25 miles outside the Austin city limits so I guess we're neighbors. I quickly looked at your website and it looked really interesting.

Hi there! I just outside of Austin also, about 10 miles, half way between Oak Hill and Dripping Springs. Welcome!

All but three of my Crele eggs are looking great! Day 7 candling and weigh in complete...Thought I'd share:

700

Only three of the eggs, so far, are not showing development. Three of them are showing veining only and all the rest (10) are showing movement!! ((I'm working on the video upload right now)). :yesss: I'm stunned. This is a batch of eggs that came in the mail and I have a >80% rate going on development...and, the other three could be "late bloomers". (I doubt it; but....)

I'm kinda in shock...happy shock; but, still, shock none the less.

If you want to see a video of one of them (all 10 are looking like this), you can see it here.

Hey, Karen! Glad to see you over here. :) You'll find this is a great group of people. I'm just north of Austin, right outside G-town.

Yay! This Sunday I will be doing my day 7 candle on some eggs from my birds. 3 from Chickadee and 3 from Spotted Butt. Seems like Chickadee has found her place in the flock so she may not have to leave. Congrats on such a good percentage so far. Who shipped them?

Good luck on your candling :) Very glad to hear that she's found her place.

Joyous (here on BYC) shipped them. I was a little concerned because when they arrived there wasn't a single intact air cell to be seen. I put them all in the egg turner and left them sitting upright and still for two days. On day three, I saw aircells - mostly where they should be. Two of them have their air cells off to the side, so I've angled the eggs a bit to try and see if I can't get it to shift to where I want it. **fingers crossed** Still a long, long way to go to live chicks; but, so far, so good.
