Ok Dallas bator users, what humidity should I be shooting for? My humidity in my house is 48!
I wouldn't worry too much about trying to raise the humidity. 50% is the ideal humidity for days 1-18. As the eggs lose moister, they increase humidity in the incubator. I dry hatch, meaning I don't add moister to the incubator and then when I lock down the eggs in the hatcher I raise the humidity to 60% and when the eggs start hatching it raises the humidity even higher. That's the way I do it here in Houston but our humidity is a little higher than most folks.

Thanks 7acres, I was just disheartened last time when I called my local postmaster and he gave me all the excuses and then claimed someone stole my package. I actually called the 800 # as well, and ll they could tell me was the package showed processed and delivered, I ended up filing the loss on my credit card, and getting a refund. Then the dress came Tuesday after Easter and I had to call the dress company and tell them to rebill me, it was such a stinking mess! I'm going to call first thing in the morning and ask them to hold my package and I will go pick it up. I'm sure she has labeled it Fragile! ....... I hope!
Remember, you do not have to call to track your package. You can do it on their site. Your package should have gotten an attempted scan not a delivered so that you could see that it was there when the post office was closed. Rural carriers are required to take a package back out the next day if you are generally home. If it happens again, then you should call the post office and ask them to check the carriers hold bin or the parcel rack. You may request that a carrier not ever leave a package and leave a notice that it is at the office for pick up. When you got your package that had been scanned as delivered, then you should have called the 800 number and tell them you want to file a complaint and would like a call back from the office to explain why you got a package that showed delivered. Carriers should not leave packages unless there is a secure place. If the package will not fit in the box, then they are required to leave a 3849 Delivery Notice in your mailbox explaining where they left it so that you will not know it is there for several days. Also, many of you do not know that a carrier is not allowed to leave a package hanging on the outside of your box. If they do, call.

Hey all you new guys, this is a link to the BYC Members Map. You can go to it and add yourselves (if your not too paranoid, but remember...just because your paranoid, doesn't mean that they're not out to get you).

Yes, if they can't see the hens, they don't fight.
yep.. that is exactly what I am learning from the 5 running around here! When they are free ranging the Old roo takes his ladies and goes one direction and the other 4 head off by themselves! Only fighting I have seen (out of the coop) is chasing a bug or first in line for meal worms but once the ladies come in view or they are in the coop.. it's on!

7acres, are you a postal worker? Lol, I think my post office was covering for their buddy, I'm in a small town. Not acceptable, but I'd rather not have my eggs smashed while ruffling feathers either....pardon the pun. I have the tracking number so I know they aren't here yet, hey are in Ft. Pierce FL, so when I call tomorrow it should be enough notice I think.
