Texas

I believe it's commonly understood that the Buyers will meet the Sellers wherever the Sellers wish to meet. That is, the Seller can give their home address for the Buyer to meet there, or the Seller can choose to meet in a public place like a Starbucks or what-have-you.

Seller going to meet buyer is ONLY when Seller wishes to do so by negotiation. Any expectation that Seller should bend over backward for Buyer would be outside the norm.

If the guy wants you to drive 2 hours round-trip then (if you choose), offer to do that for an additional $25 delivery fee. It costs gas and time and you certainly don't have to do anything you don't want to do.

Those of you that use Craig's list to sell eggs or chickens, do you have people come to your house or meet them somewhere?

And do you give out your number to be called? I had a friend give his number out, the buyer was a no show and then he got a call from a lawyer about an auto accident that he was not involved in.

Had a guy recently want to buy a rooster and got mad when I would not drive an hour away to meet him... But most of the time craig's list seems to be the way to go.
Yes I have had an experience with a guy like that. Wanted a free rooster and wanted me to drive halfway across Texas! Nope. I have come across a few nuts but for the most part I just love craigslist. I am hoping to sell some duck eggs next spring. I do a lot of buying on craigslist and wish I did more selling. You never know what awesome deal you will find on random farm related things.

I live pretty far out here. I don't mind delivering if I am going to a certain place anyway. I can't afford fuel to haul all over for nothing. Just sent zootopia some roosters in the back of my extremely non critter sister's new Lincoln SUV. Giggle. She was passing thru the right town. My experiences on Craigslist range from psycho to shyster

As a dog training instructor with a veterinarian husband, I would not recommend punishing your dog now. They need to be caught in the act so they understand WHAT they did wrong. You can seriously injure a dog's temperment by punishing them later. It's like when you call a dog to you in order to scold/punish them. They start associating you calling them with punishment and then can start refusing to come to you. Which is a dangerous thing when you need them to come to you immediately in order to save their life or get them to stop and unwanted behavior and you call them to redirect their attention from say killing a chicken. Yes, there are times when you need to work with dogs to get them to understand that you are the boss and they must obey, but so far I've cringed seeing some of what has been suggested to you.

If you have not taken your dog to an obedience class, I strongly recommend it. And don't forget that dogs have to be worked with throughout their life, not just during an obedience class. They are like toddlers, they forget. You must work with them consistently in order to achieve the results you desire and get them to defy their instincts to be able to live in the human world with the behaviors and manners that you deem acceptable in your animal. The lack of consistency with working with pets is probably the biggest problem I see people make and then they wonder why the dog doesn't perform perfectly 100% of the time.
He was slinking around rather cowered today or I probably would have dropped it. He stays by my side at all times always. So around midnight when we were going to bed and relized he was not under foot like he normally is. We called and called. Then we got flash lights and found that the rooster was gone from the tree he had roosted in that night.. I did not want to believe that the two were related. We drove around on the cart for an hour calling for him and he loves cart runs. We got back and it was late. Hubby went to bed and I went back and called a few times and started to cry and that's when he walked up. By this point I was so relieved to see him because I thought something bad had happened for him to not be by my side. I went to bed and this morning in the light we were able to confirm that the rooster was gone.
Other than not feeding him today he is really only punishing himself. I have not said a word to him.
My dogs are very well trained and never run away, always come or leave on command, so this was unusual. I knew it was past time for punishment but it is him that still is acting funny so I was just curious on what others would do in that situation. Sorry, I guess I should have filled in the details first.

Sorry about my lack of quotes but when you are ready for ducks, maybe we can do some trades someday

Slinking and cowering is not an indication of feeling guilt because he did something wrong. Dogs react to your body language the tone/inflections of your voice. They often slink and cower simply in response to feeling negative vibes from you, regardless of whether or not they actually did something wrong. Most dogs learn pretty quick that certain behaviors from you indicate that SOMEONE did something wrong - especially if you are giving the dog the same vibe that you've given off to him on a time that you have appropriately reprimanded him for something. So of course with you being worried and throwing off negative vibes, even if he didn't do it, it would be very easy for him to be cowering and slinking because he knows you are not happy and he is afraid of being punished. But he CANNOT associate the punishment you give him today for what happened yesterday. And unless you actually catch him in the act, there is no proof that he did kill the chicken. I can't tell you what to do, but I really hope that you let this go, and not continue withholding food and whatever else punishment you were planning.

I am not a monster you know. I have already said he has not been punished except did not get fed with the others this morning. I have evidence on him now but it is over. Thanks for the advice.

The original owner of this beautiful boy almost shot him for killing her chickens. I always thought that he was falsely accused of this because he is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met. I have also worked at a vet clinic and have had some of the most well behaved dogs in Texas so I just was a little shocked by it all. I love my animals and they are all very well fed. He will be fine.

Hey there Italia, maybe it is like someone else mentioned and there was a predator that got the chicken and he went off after it. That could be another reason he is slinking around, maybe he is scared of something out there. One of my dogs slinks around when clouds build because she knows thunder is next and she is super scared of thunder, not a clue why

My male GSD will start "slinking" if I just give him "the look", even if he has done absolutely nothing, sometimes I do it just so he remembers his place, it is kind of my way of "claiming my space".

Now I tried to use "the look" on my chickens once, they just laughed and kept doing what they were, then I heard a whisper "let's trip her next time she does that", I never tried again

Hi

I am sorry to have posted then disappear

. I actually ended up back in the hospital the next day with a badly septic leg. My liver disease causes my body fluid to separate out and settle in my abdomen and legs and thighs and I had been having a real bad time with that. We just adopted a new puppy from SAPetsAlive - a beauteous Australian Cattle dog or Blue Heeler - Luna and she jumped up on my legs and nicked the skin on my shin just ever so slightly. The next day I noticed my leg with the nick seemed to hurt twice as bad as the other so my hubby checked it before he left for work. There was no redness or anything so he left and I got up and watered my garden and fed my Chicklets. By about 1:00 in the afternoon my entire lower leg had swollen up even more and was a beet red with a rash and red veins streaking all over up to my knee

! He came home and took me to the emergency room at the Methodist hospital near us. They said I was lucky I came in because it was so bad it could have made my blood septic! When we were waiting in the emergency room to see a Doctor I jokingly told my husband I was going to tell the admittance Nurse that I was there because I was in labor

! He said "You better not!" I was so swollen from the Ascites in my abdomen I looked like it though! I only weigh a 120 pounds and I literally had 25 ponds of fluid in my legs and abdomen. After they checked me into a room to give me IV antibiotics they mentioned I could have the fluid drained from my abdomen! I had no idea
yesss.gif
! They did it the next morning and it was so simple and painless and only took a Band-Aid to cover the needle whole they made
ya.gif
! They drained off 2 Gallons of liquid out of my abdomen! It was such a relief
wee.gif
!!!! I wish I had known they could do that! I had been soooo miserable trying to care for my Chicklets and Business and Garden in this heat wave with all that fluid. It was like walking around in a water balloon suit

!
Our new puppy is sooo very good with all the poultry though
ya.gif
! She helps my hubby heard them back into the run after we let them out to free range! It is so cute she even goes into the run and will graze with them out of their feed pans

! Our other dog that just passed away was really aggressive to the Chicklets ! Here is her picture -

Here she is after herding everyone up for the night
