says two of the ducks she purchased from me, yesterday, are laying eggs. One laid an egg here just before they were loaded up & on the road...but now she's witnessed another one lay an egg.Looks like I was wrong about our White Leghorn, Fred, being our trusty layer. I had a feeling all of our pullets were too young to lay, but the eggs were small enough I doubted they belonged to any of the ducks.
I'm glad we've still got half a carton of eggs left over from when the ducks were ours. I guess we'll have to enjoy them a little more, now that we won't be getting anymore fresh eggs for a little while.![]()

PS: Had I known there were TWO layers among the Quackers, I should have charged more. LOL![]()
P.S. forgot to say that after meeting you and talking with you I got the feeling you were more concerned about making sure they ended up in a good home more than anything else. I could be wrong though.
That was definitely priority #1! The only way I would have parted with the ducks is if I was certain they would be taken care of. Looks like you're spoiling them rotten, and they're loving it!![]()

Someone was looking for Muscovies! LolWho was looking for me? Have I become infamous in my absence?![]()
Yeah, I've been researching and mostly what I'm seeing is not to start on layer feed until they actually lay. Layer is higher in calcium/lower in protein. Extra calcium hard on chicks' kidneys and they need high protein for feather development. The ones I'm getting are fully feathered so I'm going to put them on grower feed and hope for the best.
Well looks like my American game hicks will have to be seperated at 8.5 weeks. They just won't stop, even my barred rocks that I have in with them have stared fighting, which is normal for the pecking order, except that the game chicks will not leave them alone, so alone time it is.
