I'm a newbie located in Waco. Got my first four chicks yesterday. I shouldn't be this excited about raising chickens right? I look forward to learning more about this adventure as I go along. Chicks survived the night, so far so good!

Hey Guys, I am near Gilmer, Texas. Just starting my flock with 4 Barred Rocks and 4 NH reds. I have 2 mutts and I am about to go out and finish my fencing to add some goats.

Just wanted to say Hi and intro myself to the state group.

Hi, we are in Gilmer also, moved to the area in August and also new to raising chicks. We have 4 Barred rocks (almost 6wks), 2 buff Orpingtons (4 wks) & 2EE (3 wks) Working on getting our run built outside so the bigger chicks can go outside more, they are outgrowing their brooder. What area of Gilmer are you at?

Wendy, I'd take that hail anytime over the last ones we got. They were an inch tall and 1 inch thick. Did quite a bit of damage. Luckily with snakes we just have black rough earth snakes. HOWEVER we had 1 rattler once and it killed one of my ducks. She was a very protective broody.

Not going into any specifics, I am a retired claims adjuster. Specializing in Independent National Catastrophic Property damage. I can very Much appreciate you comment. I have seen some miraculous hailstones in the last 25 years during work.

Oooh, East Texas. Would really like to see that spreadsheet sometime. Or maybe help me set up a map divided into like 8-10 precincts/regions that are numbered. Let those who want, enter their region #. I am very interested, Texas is a big state. I travel, or know someone who travels all over. Could trade items, meet up, group shows, etc....

I can't remember who recommended Bluebonnet Animal Rescue when I posted asking if anyone knew of available G. Pyr puppies but I THANK YOU. Made a road trip today to bring home our 12 wk old Akbash/G. Pyr. I'm exhausted right now but I will look for you tomorrow

Hey all. We are looking at moving to the houston/conroe area this summer. I am just trying to get to know some in the area and figure out what we will be able to keep once we settle in. I am currently liquidating my flocks and herds in anticipation of the move.
