This is a long shot, but does anyone have or know of anyone who has Blue Slate Turkey hens available? I desperately need to locate a few females for the young tom I was "gifted" before he decides to take out his sexual frustration on the chickens or the geese.

So it's getting on towards that wonderful time of year when we don't need to heat or cool we can just leave the windows open. At least that's how it works in my region of the world however I really don't like those bat like moths that fly in in the morning after you let the chicken out. I think they're called I don't know death moths or whatever Le morte. I have certainly screamed like a little child having one loose in my house before.
Some cultures call them good luck, others harbingers of death, but dang a 6-inch black bat like moth flying at your head will tweek a North Texan's melon.

Same here with the weather, the heat only comes on when it's in the 40's outside, the last week or two it hasn't come on!

I usually have a few more blankty blank blank blank blank's in there. To date I have had at least three in my house!

Too many mosquitos getting blown in from the swamps to leave the doors open. Enjoy it when you can. I killed 3 mosquitos yesterday. Glad it's winter...

Enjoy your mosquitoes I wish we had water for those. Still it's wonderful this time of year I'm having temperatures only between 60 and 90. That's what I call a Texas spring. Sure we have weird gnats in the house too now don't know where they came from but it's better than scorpions.

I got a rain gauge last year. Says we got 3 inches of rain last week. I think I'm doing something wrong. I also had to put down more woodchips because the mud is terrible.

Man I would take three inches of rain I've got two bales of hay still in the shed, just waiting for that possibility!

On the totally plus side we haven't had to mow for like 2 months now.

I am near Mabank, Cedar Creek Lake.

We have horses, goats, Jacob Four Horn sheep, over 100 rabbits, approx. 300 head of several breeds of chickens, Guineas, 1 Brahman bull, 2 emu's, 1 pot-bellied pig, 1 wild sow, 3 Great Pyrenees, 1 Blue heeler, 1 BlueHeeler - Border Collie cross, & 1 Miniature Longhaired Dachshund.

I saw your post and thought for sure you must be in in South Texas. We are in the wonderful time of year where it is raining for a couple of days, cold and cloudy for a few more and then followed by a day (maybe two if we're lucky) of sunshine. Unfortunately suburbia has moved up into our area and I haven't seen a bat for a couple of years. We do get the occasional bob cat looking for a quick meal.
