I had an adventure today... But at least I got a new duckling.

Awwwwww so cute!!!! :bow:love:eek::hugs 💚
Yeah.... Its is pretty adorable. We're both exhausted now though. Lmao.
I have chickens brooding on duck eggs, because the broodies were stubborn, and I don't want more chickens right now.
Broody hen #1 hatched out 3 ducklings a couple of days ago, and was still sitting on this one.
Broody #2 chased her off the nest today.... After this little dude had pipped last night.
I found the egg, already fairly hatched, but cold. Little duckling was peeping, and starting to shrink wrap, so I put some Neosporin on the membrane and put the egg under broody #2, as broody #1 had stopped sitting in her nest. (I didn't know why at that point).
I came back and checked 10 minutes later and the duckling (sans egg) is out of broody #2's nesting box and is cold. So I ghetto-rigged an incubator with a heat lamp and warmed the duckling back up, and put the divider in the brooder between the 2 hens, as apparently broody #2 is a judas.
Apparently I really should have gotten an incubator, as I am now worried about the eggs under broody hen #2...
So, it's an adventure. The duckling doesn't like being under the heat lamp, so it's now tucked into my shirt. I figure I'll put it under broody #1 tonight after she's asleep.

And all the Cackle chicks that are 3 weeks and 2 days old are now out with the 8 week olds from Star's and the incubator hatch. Plus the TSC bantams.
All together with no issues? Just asking because I have 7 week olds out with the big girls (have been since 3wks), and 4 wk olds in the grow out pen. I was thinking of opening up the hidey hole door and other door tomorrow to let the "littles" start mingling since 2 of the lavenders are going to their new home.

That's a good idea. 💚

There's some tifts but not much. Has to be because I have bantams with LF in the 8 week old group. Plus I have cinderblocks in the coop for holding the timbers for roosting(they don't use it, sigh) so the 3 week olds go through the holes in the blocks to get away.
