Thought I'd ask this on the TX thread since Ideal is located in this state.

Anyone ever get Ideal's Black Copper Marans? How dark are their eggs?

@Auntiejessi3 I think I remember a post where you got some Blue Olive Eggers from them (unintentionally). I'm also looking at those.
Im going to suggest if you want anything of middleing quality look at Cackle. They support the showes and believe in working tword the SOP. Their Ameraucana are good enough to start breeding for show quality.

To be honest, I don't care about SOP as much as egg color. I want them to be healthy, though. I'm just selling eggs for eating, not breeding.

Also, I'm second guessing BCM because I'm worried how they'll do in the heat. Any thoughts on the heavier breeds with feathered feet being able to handle our summers?

I have a 5yr old brahma, Wheaten Marans, BCM (just sold them) and English Orpingtons, they all handle the heat pretty well
