I'm in central Texas. Born and raised.. Hubby got here from Kansas as quick as he could. LOL.. I have 3 pullets, a trio of ducks, a couple cats and two dogs. Ellie one of my ducks just went broody on a clutch of eggs. they will be silver welsh harlequin babies and also some welsh harlequin X magpie crosses depending what hatches. I am going to try and get somemore Welsh harlequin eggs shipped to put in nest.

That's what I used to say .... about me. Shhhhhhhhhhh .. not many people know I'm not 'originally' from here ... hehehe

I am in Grand Prairie suburbia in North Texas! Keeping the girls cool with frozen blue ice to snooze around and frozen liter bottles as well. Then there's cool chopped veggies in the afternoon and icewater in the wading pool!

Had my share of predators too this past month. Hopefully, July will bring better luck as I just had 100 chicks (assortment) delivered this morning from Ideal. My sister picked them up and has them comfy in their new home, so I can't wait to get home and try to guess what I have. I haven't lost any girls to the heat (I'm sure only by the hair of my chiny-chin-chin

, but the @)(*#%&&^%)@ coons and dogs have been bad enough. This 3 day week end will allow me enough time to hopefully completely revamp the big brooder pen.

Hopefully everyone will have a safe and happy July 4th and hope someone gets rained on!!

I lost a Barred Rock last week. Lost is the right word. I went to close the coop and there was one missing. I scoured the yard, and again in the morning, but no sign of anything. Sigh... At least I hadn't named her yet.
