Welcome neighbors, pineywoods and TexasChick.

Rachel, Ange and 3 Golden Girls, I think she is very cute with her babies, too. She is a white sultan and only weighs about 1lb and a half. She did very well by hatching 8 out of 12 eggs. If she was mine, I would never have let her try to hatch so many. She is a very good mother and it turned out well. I am going to get to keep a few of them for myself and the rest will go back to my neighbor along with the mom. When they are about 6 wks old.

If anyone knows of someone near me that has some silkies for sale let me know. I don't want to have them shipped. I want to pick them up or meet them somewhere.

Okay, I will do that and thanks for the info. There is no telling what they are. Probably mixes but I will ask on the section tomorrow. I need to hit the hay. Have a good night.

TexasChick, I would love to take him if you decide to get rid of your buff silkie roo. I am wanting to get some silkies but didn't want to buy them from a hatchery. I am going to try to find someone local that I can pick them up or meet halfway. I live in Kountze so I am not too far from you. I am thinking about trying to get like 10/11 females and 1 roo. I would like to get them when they are young. He is the right age for me. Please let me know.
I will let you know GamGam. I probably will give him away, but the Silkies are just so sweet and funny, I get attached to them and don't want to let them go...lol. He is a hatchery bird though. I felt sorry for these guys sitting in their little tubs and bought them. The Sebrights were ill, but the Silkies were nice and healthy. I will post some photos later in the day so you can see how the two roos look.

Anyone in the Pineywoods ( preferably within 30 miles of Trinity ) Region have a spare BA rooster? My go to man is null and void. He's shooting blanks and going in the crock pot. The ladies will have to stay with the RIR mix roo and let me hatch out a few more meat birds, lol!

Ok sounds good to me TexasChick. I would feel the same way. They are very cute. I can't wait to get mine. If you decide to do it, then it doesn't matter to me where it really comes from. I just didn't want to have chicks shipped when it is getting so hot already and don't trust our PO. He will have a good home. I am a big animal lover. I am the dummy that feeds all the strays in the neighborhood. LOL

Lol gam gam! You want the stray I'm feedin? 2-3 yo boston terrier.... just had pups and couldn't leave her n them cute pups at the construction site I guard! I'm a big softie as well! Y DW says no mo strays! Only chickens! At least we can eat them if there's too many!

Sounds just like me. At least she lets you keep the chickens. No, I can't take the dog. I have 3 of my own. Two shitzus and one rat terrier. But I am feeding about 5 stray cats and 4 kittens. Not counting the chicken feed I am feeding the injured chicken, the momma hen and her chicks. I have hid injured dogs, cats, chickens and a few other critters in our spare bedroom, not at the same time, but until I could find homes or get them healed. Well, he caught me the other day. I had the hen with the injured neck in the spare room. He wasn't very happy at all. She couldn't stay in the dog carrier until she healed so he made me another big brooder for her. I told him it was an investment. We could always use an extra brooder. He fussed and moaned but built it. He thinks that I should just turn a blind eye to any animal in need and that is just not my nature. He never had pets as a kid and I lived on a farm. He should know better after 26 yrs. I guess he thinks I am going to turn into one of those animal hoarders or something.
