What a windy day! The little banties came popping down the coop steps and were immediately blown off course. Hot Shot (Hot Stuffâs son) got them all gathered up and back in the coop. He stood guard at the door and crowed a warning. The little girls went down under the coop into the tractor where it wasnât so windy. They could also get away from Hot Shot who was starting to look at them âfunny" . Their combs and wattles were growing and getting pinker. Hot Shot thought they were most attractive. The little girls were growing up!
Over in the Big Girls Coop, the Food Lady let everyone out to free range. Barbara and Monica were the first out the door and made it quickly over to the big pine tree with the help of a hefty tail wind. Barbara looked like a Cochin with her tail feathers blown all around. Leroy waited until the girls (or at least the ones he was interested in), had left the coop and went over to join Barbara.
There were some Little Food People running around the yard. They were busy scooping out pumpkin seeds out of Grampaâs pumpkins. All the chicken girls were excited! Pumpkin guts! Yum! The yard was covered with the big girls gobbling up pumpkin innards.
Leroy and Barbara were at the outside edge of the group. Barbara was eating as fast as she could (which is pretty fast . . ) but Leroy thought it might be a good time for romance, what with Barbara being distracted by her appetite. So when he saw his chance, he took it. Leroy the Lover was cuddling with Barbara when a big gust of wind swept over the yard and blew him right off the object of his affections. He landed a couple feet away and shook himself. Leroy decided the pumpkin guts looked tasty after all. Romance would have to wait until the wind died down.
