The way my cockerel keeps randomly staring at his father is one of the weirder things I've seen a chicken do recently. It happened enough while i was sitting with them to capture a few moments. He just kept randomly staring at his father in the weirdest ways possible 😂 😭. I'm gonna assume it's because he's maturing and getting hormonal but it was so random.
They're practically identical besides a few minor things. The one minding his own business is Big Nugget/ my adult rooster, and the one who is sending him weird looks is Little Nugget/his son.

Not sure if this is the right place but I wanted others input on this cockerel.

I'm really on the fence about whether to use him. Good muff/beard and coloring, but that tail is so high. Ridiculously high, and I don't have any hens with lower angled tails to pair him with. Wings are also a bit low- border on right on the hock, or just below it depending on the day. Some days he holds them in the right position, but more often than not I find them to be a bit low.

Comb is a tad bit big, but I am in Florida so it's excusable. Also his feather width is awesome- I love how thick his tail feathers are.

Sorry about the photos. He does not like staying still.

Almost like he’s trying to say “I’m tough now Dad, do you see me staring you down?? I’m scaring you aren’t I?? Are you impressed with me? Dad, Dad, are you looking?? Look at me!!!” 😆😆😆

I like him! His tail is high and makes his back look short, but he has really great color and a nice full muff and beard, and a nice wide and deep looking chest. I’d see how he does as a breeder before discounting him. He may make some very nice ladies with that type! 😍

Good to hear! Never sure if I'm being overly critical and I know he's good his good qualities, so I didn't want to go ahead and cull him if other people thought he has nice traits. I'll hold onto him and may breed him in the spring. Depends on how his brothers mature.

I'd say do a test breeding and go from there. I think he's a handsome fellow!
